The setting is the year 2118, one-hundred years after the Zero Requiem. After this set of events, the world becomes a more peaceful place as wars die down under the guidance of the U.F.N. Military technology actually declines while all efforts are placed into reconstruction and aid for those who suffered from the numerous wars of the past. However, not everyone was content with the empty peace.
The nobility of Britannia, still furious over the abolition of their statuses and ranks, organized and rebelled - leading all of the most powerful figures in Britannia to unite against the royalty. Realizing that this could serve to engulf the entire world in yet another war, the Britannian royal family is forced to reinstate the aristocracy, giving the nobles back their privileges and positions within the Imperial government in order to avoid civil war. It proves successful, but...just as before, the nobility soon return to their cold, harsh ways - scorning those beneath them and seeking more power than ever. Class differences deepen and there is a return of the Purist movement, those in the nobility of purely-Britannian bloodlines seeking to ultimately disenfranchise and dominate those who aren't. While Britannia is still the world's foremost superpower, the growing will to dominate by the council of nobility is threatening to dethrone the royal family from their seats of power. Worse yet, the Emperor recently died, leaving his son Alistair de Britannia to rule the Empire. How will this young new Emperor deal with the rising internal conflict and the growing chaos throughout the world?
The European Union, having lost most of its territory to Britannia a hundred years prior, has been gradually becoming more and more visible in their attempts to retake it, aiding underground rebellions and anti-Britannian organizations. Though they were given a big span of their land back years ago, it is clear that they aren't stopping there. Now that they see Britannia in an uneasy state of balance, the EU is likely planning to continue their efforts in undermining Britannia's hold on its subjects. Everyone knows their agents are everywhere, though no one has been able to prevent it.
As well, Japan has just recently been reclaimed as Area 11 in an attempt by Britannian nobility to retake their dominance over the world. Japan, unable to fight the Britannian military, is forced to accept their occupation. However, like before, the citizens are angry and feel betrayed. Numerous riots and anti-Empire displays are made, though no real rebellion has formed as of yet. Jonny Doberski, a former Britannian noble whose family had been murdered long ago by the Council of Nobles for speaking against them, stumbled upon a former Black Knights hideout - learning much about Zero and his Black Rebellion. After finding Zero's mask, Jonny believes it is his destiny to bring Zero back to the people and rebel against Britannian rule.
The Chinese Federation, led by the most recent generation of Empress - Ai-Shi Tianzi - sees the chaos that threatens the Britannian government over Japan, and the supposed unrest between the Council of Nobles and the royal family only fuels the fires. This leads the Federation to believe that it might be time to regain some of their long-lost strength and alter the balance of power in the world out of Britannia's control. However, an open war would be impossible at this point. Instead the Federation is biding their time and mobilizing their military selectively, moving to battle only when it seems prudent to do so. However, no one can guess what the Federation's next move will be.
In all corners of the world, allies are few and everyone seems to be waiting for the right time to strike one another. As chaos engulfs the world, the people can only hope for a savior...
