Something blurred through the streets, something which from above seemed like a streak of orange, but on the streets below, one could clearly see Black accompanied by Red, before it would've already passed that person. The streak was actually a person, and that person had on their feet a special type of jet boot they themselves had developed, and boy did they work wonders. He came to stop just in front of the Government complex, pulled out a small note book, and scribbled in what he could see. He then considered how he was meant to get in. The Chinese government had yet to receive any kind of access card from Britannia, and he wasn't sure if they'd let him in anyways. So he decided he'd let himself in. He propped one foot against the wall, adjusted the angle of the jets on his boots, and watched as he smoothly rose. He then flipped over and did the same for the main building, with several eyebrows being raised. He pulled out the notebook again as he climbed the building, making sure which floor was the science department, before ducking slightly so he fit through an open window, and came into the very place he'd been looking for. He was Aizen Hinimari, and he was here to talk to one Aloysius Drebbel. "Who's in charge around here?"

The boy had to be really lucky to have found the pretty much only window of the science department open, though the luck was in the 'finding it open' part and not that much to finding it in general - if one floor has barely any windows, finding one should not be too difficult. Though a totally unknown person jumping in from the window of the science department and especially one residing within the Government complex, was something that the boy must have had the real luck with him to manage getting in without a full alarm launching out – one thing was to be wondered how that was even possible. Well, the room the boy had entered probably was not the exactly one he had been looking for, but luck was with him also on this part for he happened to make his entrance under the nose of the very person he had been looking for. "Who's in charge around here?" The question made a man to lift his gaze from a laptop before him, him sitting behind a simple table at the left from the window from which the boy had suddenly just appeared. Well, that’s a very good question to which I actually don’t know the answer – for this is just a break room, after all – but that might also depend entirely of who you are actually looking for. I may assume it’s not the secretary girl who buys the milk?” Aloysius didn’t mean to be rude – just random, unthinking a note on his part the last one was. He might have noticed it and left it unsaid if not for the jet boots the boy was wearing, to which his attention had gradually been drawn to the very moment he set his eyes on the boy, now staring more towards the direction of the comers feet rather than to his face.

"I'm looking for Aloysius Drebbel, I'm Aizen Hinimari, the Chinese Scientific Representative sent to be of whatever help I can. You like the boots? Made them myself." He said pulling them off, showing off the various features. "The angles of the jets are variable, so it allows for one to climb on even the steepest of slopes, or up the wall of this building just as I have. They're also made with an expandable substance, I could actually fit them over my mountain boots if I had to. They're pretty much anything proof, water, wind, fire, and even lightning couldn't damage them. But lastly is the power source of the jets." He said as he unclipped the back of one of the jet boots, revealing a small green energy cell, which lit up the room like a thousand light bulbs, before putting the back of the boot on again. "An energy source unlike any other that I've dubbed 'Getter Rays' in homage to my favourite old school anime. Its broken more laws of physics then I'm willing to recall. Its because its properties are... extra dimensional to say the least. Seriously it splits an atom to create energy, then takes less of the energy created, makes a new atom, then splits it to release the same amount of energy as the first - which should be impossible! And to top it all off, depending on what species you are, direct exposure can either accelerate your evolution at an incredible rate, though if its too concentrated it'll still kill you regardless. I probably haven't even delphed into half the possibilities for it, though I no this - though whilst it could be the thing to solve energy problems forever, it could also escalate war to the point of global apocalypse - heres hoping the latter never happens." He said as he put the boot back on. "To make the boots work I convert the excess energy it makes into heat energy, so it effectively works like the jets on a fighter plane, albeit on a smaller scale."

Aloysius kept staring towards the boy's feet, only slightly lifting his eyebrow when he told the scientist about his jet boots. But the slight lift was enough - the comer had definitely caught his interest. Sure he was Chinese - sent to be of whatever help I can, had he said? - and Aloysius would be careful with him, at least in the beginning for he still was on a sort of an enemy's side and for all he knew he could steal all his secrets and do whatever mischief he could just imagine with the knowledge about them. From the description he had just given about his boots, he was no newcomer what it came to science - if he really had invented such an energy source, Aloysius knew the boy would probably actually understand everything he had in his sleeve, if he would be allowed to see them. "Oh, is that so?" He commented, still not yet rising from behind his desk, though slowly beginning to draw his gaze up from the boy's feet. He observed him for a moment - it sure was surprising for someone this young to be actually this knowledgeable, or so it seemed. Aloysius furrowed his eyebrow for a while. Well, he wouldn’t definitely throw away such and opportunity - maybe he could make some sort of use of the boy. Of course, he would have to consult someone of the royalty for this. Ah, the paperwork. The thought made him shiver. Well, no thinking about that now - it would be just one matter of the future. The scientist would also have to deal with much more troublesome matters in the future anyway. So, finally, he rose from his seat and took a step towards the boy, making a small, seemingly approving nod. "Well, this must be your lucky day, then. Aloysius Drebbel, the Tintagel's Chief of Science at your service."

"Really? Thought you'd be taller for some reason." Aizen said as he shook Aloysius by the hand. "And by Aloysius Drebbel do you mean the same I tried to invite about a few weeks back? Of course it had to be handed over to some Captain for some kind of safety reason, but I still hope it got through to you. Also how are the energy claws going?" He asked, before realising he shouldn't even know about that. "Um, actually scratch that part. Anyways like I said - Chinese government sent me in to help - what do you need?"

"Really? Thought you'd be taller for some reason." Aloysius answered him with a smile on his face. "Well, not that you're what I expected you to be - quite tall you are for a Chinese, eh? And yes, your letter did reach me. I'm sorry I had no time to answer - I had also quite much else to do with this new base. But now that you're here right in fron of me, I guess I don't have to anymore." The scientist paused, taking another while to observe the boy - young man, whatever - and listen to him continue to speak. Of course the slight remark - apparently incautious - didn't miss his ear. So, the boy knew about the Energy Claws, huh? Aloysius frowned. Sent for help, now was he? Well, the Claws were now already finished, and either way he would have probably had to introduce them in public soon - as soon as he would get the new test pilot under his wing, anyway - so not that major a flaw it was if this Chinese boy knew about them already. But, this just meant that all the same how careful the Britannian Army was, there was a wormhole somewhere - which meant that Aloysius would have to be even more careful in the future. A Chinese spy - or so it seemed to him at the moment - breathing on his neck definitely wouldn't help the matter. Oh well~ " -- Anyways like I said - Chinese government sent me in to help - what do you need?" The scientist just sighed slightly, turning around and returning behind his desk. "I do appreciate your governments offer, you can greet them with my thanks. Right now I don't have anything for you, but you can stay - I may need you later, for I've heard you're quite skilled, definitely not a Vice-Chief of Science for nothing. Of course, not to waste your time, I got an impression that you wanted my help for something? Or did I get that wrong?"

Aizen raised an eyebrow, that was right wasn't it? The letter he'd sent Aloysius was both an invitation and a request for some help on a certain subject. "Yeah well, you know how I talked about Getter Rays and all being somewhat an unlimited energy? Its just that also the larger the getter ray output - which comes with a higher surface area of the source material - the more unstable it gets. And I really want to figure out how to stabilise large amounts of the stuff - so it could effectively solve energy problems. Cause yeah its constantly providing energy and all, but it'll run dry if you use more energy than it can produce, and the amount I use in my boots is nowhere near enough. But enough of that. I came here to help you, you can do the same for me some other right? No rush."

"Right." Aloysius answered, now without the slightest change in his expression as he had gone back to the table and sat down anew to continue something he had been doing before he had been distracted by the visitor from the window. Staring at the screen of the laptop the scientist was almost - but considering the subject of the conversation after all, just almost - not listening to the boy at all. Naturally he would ask about this energy source later, but now was not the time for that. Scrolling once more through a long list of names on the screen he mumbled something to himself and then sighed lightly. "Well, wan't be of some use, now don't we? He did not lift his gaze from the screen as he spoke but it was clear he was talking to the boy again. "You might start from this one." A bit of more of the sound of his fingers running on the keyboard, then, a small creak as the scientist leaned back on his chair. He, though, said nothing as he glanced at the direction of the boy, but then a sound of a printer from the other corner of the room broke the moment of silence. The machine hummed for a while, then began to spit out paper which soon formed quite considerable a pile next to the machine. Aloysius snapped his fingers like he would have just made some funny little magic trick, then jumped up from the chair and went to get the pile of paper as the printer had finished it's job. He came back to the boy, wiggling the bunch of paper like some over-thick fan. "You may help and look at these with me - pilot stats from applicants, whom of one is hopefully a future test devicer for my team." He smacked the papers on the table and began humming. The scientist's lax and quite indifferent behavior from a moment ago was very much gone - like the bunch of paper would have been some savior of his day, something he had been actually waiting for. Excited he was now, for sure, and suddenly quite cheerful - over a bunch of paper, yes. And a particularily thick bunch. Most men's horror, usually also Aloysius' - but if one thing he wanted to deal with as a thick bunch of paper, it was the devicer stats. No headache from staring the screen for way too long time - even too long for someone like Aloysius - and so easy to fill the papers with his own scribblings and markings. He smiled to the Chinese boy. "Hope I'm not scaring you - I just like to do this the old-fashioned way. Fear not - there are no names or anything from which you could recognize who is who. Just pure and plain stats. Don't take it as an offence - I, too, want to observe only their skills, not who they are in the society. It's not like I'd choose my devicer for some reason like his family name, her father being a duke or something else equally stupid."

"Pilot stats eh? Seems simple enough. And trust me - paper is far more reliable, no lag, lack of memory, or viruses to mess things up. Now lets see..." He said as he began to go through the pile, comparing the stats between a few of them, though one raised an eyebrow. "Well, looks like someone had their DNA spliced at birth, theres no other way that this guy could have a body that developed." He said as he put one of the paper's aside, the name 'Kaoto' on it. "Though these two hold some promise as well. One of them even has a 98% synchronisation ratio, thats pretty rare. Wasn't the last guy to have one that high one of your country's pilot's? The other however is known for anticipating his opponent's movements and using it to his advantage. That kind of intuition would be rather well used alongside a good frame." He then showed the two to Aloysius before returning to the pile. "But that of course is only out of the first 20, so expect a few more by the end of the day." He said as he checked out the next few sheets.

"Pilot stats eh? Seems simple enough. And trust me - paper is far more reliable, no lag, lack of memory, or viruses to mess things up. Now lets see..."
Well, this was good. The Chinese one was not afraid of paper - perfect~ An by the looks of it, he was also rather quick at glancing through them. By the time Aloysius had barely got back to his desk with his share of the papers and sat down to get to it, the boy had already got rid of quite a bunch of candidates - at least couple of dozens or so. Aloysius was left for a while to just sit there, gaze at him and ponder whether he would have to re-check those papers, for the boy could have also been just hasty instead of being efficient, but in the end the Britannian Chief of Science decided not to but trust to the youngster's judgement. Even if he was Chinese, he surely was not the Vice-Chief of Science for nothing, and Aloysius did trust that he knew what he was doing. On the other hand of course, if he after all was sent to be spying the Britannian Research and Development Facility, it wasn't sure to be said that he wasn't there to cause some mischief too.
"Well, looks like someone had their DNA spliced at birth, theres no other way that this guy could have a body that developed." The boy talking - to himself or not - partially caught Aloysius' attention. Ah, the youngster had spotted Izumi. Aloysius didn't see the name on the paper, but the notion the boy made did tell him enough - surely he recognized the Captain out of such a description. (Aloysius had yet to hear that this said familiar Captain of his was actually nowhere near a Captains rank anymore.) Well, the (ex)Captain was one of the most competent candidates on the Chief of SCience's list anyway, so it was no surprise that the Chinese boy didn't discard of his paper right away. "Though these two hold some promise as well. One of them even has a 98% synchronisation ratio, thats pretty rare. Wasn't the last guy to have one that high one of your country's pilot's? The other however is known for anticipating his opponent's movements and using it to his advantage. That kind of intuition would be rather well used alongside a good frame." Up for some michief? Aloysius re-though. Maybe not, after all. Not, judging from what the boy had expressed aloud about the stats - seemed that he was totally serious about them. Aloysius would still be cautious, naturally, but not totally without trust for him. Well, a capable pair of hands was never a bad thing for his team anyway - especially when he still had no Vice-Chief of Science on his own.
"Mm-hm." He murmured something with an accepting tone of voice for the boy's last remark. "That's good. Just keep the good ones clearly separated from the other papers - just like you have so well done this far, it seems." Then the red-head Chief finally reached for one paper from his own pile and began to glance through the stats. Soon was the room filled with his humming again - tone being pleased, relaxed for the joy of work.
***//After x hours//***
The humming had stopped, the paper had found a new order on the Chief of Science's desk. There was one, thick pile for those pilots' stats who had got invalidated, disposed, simply casted away from the selection process. Then there was a pile for those whose stats had made it for the second round, but had then been left out to join the fate of those who where in the thickest pile. The third pile as well was not so thick than the previous one, but like the ones before it was also a pile for those who had made it this far, but not quite to the final round of Aloysius' decision.
The last, single paper on the table could hardly be called a pile as it was there all alone. But, it was the one and only to whom Aloysius had finally settled with his hunt for a proper test pilot. Surely, there had been also others who had nearly made it there with this lone last one, but in the end the Chief of Science had decided to not choose them for the finals after all - for it was clear they'd be no match for her after all, and it would be just a waste of time to even try and compare their skills when it came to the tops of the course. Aloysius hoped that the boy had had a bit more luck with his pile of candidates - he knew that the Chinese boy had Izumi chosen there, at least, which was also a reason the Chief of Science had disqualified so many of otherwise capable pilots from his pile of stats. Of course a bit more options would more surely give out the best one of them all, but from what he had got from these stats, there where hardly any who would be any match for Izumi when it came down to the final tournament.
Except for this woman whose stats were now laying alone in the supposed-to-be-a-pile for the accepted ones. Her stats had actually made Aloysius lift an eyebrow - which, considering the matter, was even somewhat a rare thing to happen. The woman was good at it, yes - surprisingly good to be just a regular citizen and an ordinary teacher by her background. By her stats, she really could've been called a natural talent as a pilot, if not for anything else. And just like that being better than most of the professional soldiers having taken part in the training and selection program - hm. Very talented, yes. Aloysius had pondered, whether he should actually be suspicious about such, but let it be. It was a perfect pilot he was looking for, and she was close to being that perfect - which was what mattered now. Of course their backgrounds and all would be checked very properly before anyone would officially be nominated for the post.
Aloysius leaned back at his chair and sighed deeply. The work for now had been done and it could be called a time for a break. Which called for some pudding for him in the very near future - a good thing he was already at the break room. Someone could have yelled for him to have worked there though, but seemed like no one had had any particular business to come to this particular room for the whole day. At least Aloysius had quite perfectly missed anyone or anything passing by. Hardly there had been any interruptions. "So, I've got one potential pilot here for the finals. What about you?" He asked, turning on his chair to Aizen.

Aizen had spent the last few hours trying to make a solid decision, using every drop of information on the sheets to decide his final vote. He'd gone through dozens if not hundreds of possibilities, but he continually came back to one - Captain Kaoto's. His synchronisation might not have been 98%, but it was still pretty close. In terms of combat experience he'd seen the most action, even taking down thousands of frames in taking Area 18. Lastly was his tactical skill, which - as long as there were no variables - was pretty solid. Not "the-legendary-Zero solid", but still pretty damned good. "So, I've got one potential pilot here for the finals. What about you?" "Do you really need to ask? His paper hasn't shifted since I put it back in front of myself. Honestly if this Kaoto doesn't live up to the expectations I've got for him, I'd obviously have lost several points of IQ." He said as he picked up Kaoto's paper and placed it besides Aloysius' choice. "A school teacher? That must require some raw talent for her to have even been mentioned. Whats her name... Susanna Achrenius? Yeah, I think we have our two choices, so do we have them duke it out or try to dig up as much background info as we can first and make more comparisons with that?"

"Do you really need to ask? His paper hasn't shifted since I put it back in front of myself. Honestly if this Kaoto doesn't live up to the expectations I've got for him, I'd obviously have lost several points of IQ." Aloysius frowned slightly. So, it did come down to Kaoto and just one other candidate in the end. "Well, as far as I know Kaoto he probably won't let us down - not as far as he's concerned, anyway. And this Achrenius..." The Chief of Science picked up her paper to glance at it once more. Raw talent indeed... And quite well it had been shaped and polished into a one fine diamond of talent from where all of the candidates had began.
Aloysius rose to get Izumi's paper from where the young Hinimari was, while he simply nodded in agreement for the final two to have been found as he headed for the tiny kitchenette of the break room for some refreshment - something related to dairy products, anyway. In a while he came back with a glass of milk in lack of pudding, from which he was somewhat surprised for he was sure he had spared some at the back of the fridge (the poor man just didn't remember he had already eaten it in the morning in lack of anything else for breakfast after having pulled an all-nighter at work again). "-- so do we have them duke it out or try to dig up as much background info as we can first and make more comparisons with that?" The Chief of Science made a small 'Hm', but sipping his milk, answered to the boy soon enough. "Backgrounds are not that important - maybe for some officers but not to me. Actions are what speak for them the best now, and if some background digging is needed, that can be done later. What we need now is to see them fulfilling in reality what their stats are telling to us. So, a match it shall be set for them now." Gah, not now. An unpleasant, yet even too familiar a feeling hit the Chief of Science, suddenly but surely not unexpectedly. Staying up all night was one thing, but having done it already thrice during the week was beginning to take it's toll - especially when the last night had been one of them. Aloysius had to sit down, and unlike usually, the milk was not exactly soothing him down this time. As much as he was a workaholic and all, even he naturally couldn't handle too many nights without sleep constantly. That much of a workaholic he was not that he would let his work totally exhaust and kill him - how could he have been able continue his work then, eh? "...Well, we'll begin preparations for the match as soon as I've had a good nights sleep first. Another all-nighter was not exactly what I had in plans for tonight." He told the boy, faint laughter escaping his lips along with the line. He finished his milk with a single swallow and picked Captain Kaoto's paper from before Aizen. "You can either stay here or be less suspicious and go downstairs to announce your arrival officially - I'll note them before I go (so they won't wake me up for nothing) and everything should be fine for you. They'll arrange you some lodgings. But, now you'll have to excuse me."
Aloysius nodded to him as a farewell for now, turned to return the glass to the kitchenette's side and then took his leave, heading straight for his own office a couple of floors below in where he could rest for now. It would be pointless to go as far as to the apartment arranged for him an the Settlement - which he seldom used anyway. While the nasty feeling for not having slept enough nagged him, he was still pleased with the results of the day's work. Maybe, after all, there finally could be some progress - at least in some matters.

"...Well, we'll begin preparations for the match as soon as I've had a good nights sleep first. Another all-nighter was not exactly what I had in plans for tonight." Bingo, it was a series of working day after day without rest - a scientist's mortal enemy. "Well as long as its agreed, I don't think we'll have any other reason to disturb each other's sleep." Aizen nodded before slowly starting to walk towards the elevator, his boots may push against a service well enough, but they wouldn't do it well enough to make jumping from the window instead of into it possible. "You can either stay here or be less suspicious and go downstairs to announce your arrival officially - I'll note them before I go (so they won't wake me up for nothing) and everything should be fine for you. He said as he got into the elevator, hit the button, and began the descent to the ground floor.
