Aden Williams had always considered himself a fairly bright man, but never smart. That showed through today as he walked through the long white halls of the Brittania Research and development facility in Texas. It was reminiscent of a hospital; chilly, quite, ominousness, and you had to talk to people that you really didn't want to but had to. The receptionist was taking him to see the chief of the science department, a man he had met before. Aloysius was a very grounded man which was nice when working in the realms of science. Aden at this point was just glad that he had agreed to meet with him about his design.
The Design was additional weapons for Knightmare Frames, but he hoped that it could be used as a stand alone as well, because Aden did not have a knightmare in his position. The design had 6 free moving small Hadron cannons that would be controlled on a separate screen in the knightmare, or the pilot could select several targets and a computer program would run it. This was all to be discussed though, and Aden had already sent the concept design to Aloysius Drebbel. Aden wouldn't be shocked if he hadn't already came up with a plan. (Short sorry)

For Aloysius, a new idea was never a bad thing - be it then one of his own or something suggested or inspired by someone else. Though most of what the others usually tried to feed to him was mostly gibberish and things definitely out of something to be made true, in some rare cases there where also those who actually had some sense in what they had come up with. And this time was one of those rare, actually sane kind of idea ones. If this young Major Williams thought he wasn't smart, definitely was he not from the base of the lighthouse either - at least not in Aloysius' books. His design for this additional weapon was not that bad indeed. Actually, it was quite the good one to kick forward one of things Aloysius had brainstormed earlier, but which had yet to see the daylight. With this what Major Williams had presented to him, could very much make better of the weapon the Chief of Science himself had designed earlier, and make it actually possible to realize it as something useful.
Now the said scientist was sitting in his official work room - or more likely quarters - and was waiting for the said Major to come. He had been informed that the young man was on his way - and what the simple clock on the wall told him about the time was something to assure his arrival soon, if the Major would be on time. An amongst the military, it sure was expected. Aloysius leaned back in his chair and sighed lightly, reaching for a mug of milk at the other end of his desk. The concept design this Williams had sent him earlier was to be seen on a computer screen on the desk, as he had been going through it once more before the sender of it should be arriving to this research and development den of his and join some think tank on the subject. Aloysius was curious to hear what the youngster himself had to say about the weapon, added to what he had already described and told about it with what he had sent to the Chief of Science - be it then how good a design or plan, if the designer would have nothing to add or nothing more to say on the subject, Aloysius would begin to doubt if it was the persons own idea after all. Which would mean, he wouldn't use be it then how excellent or useful. Even if it was good, he wouldn't let anything pass if it was stolen from someone else - as a hard worker himself, person's own work was what he appreciated and would gladly help to make use of. He would make his research and check the facts many times before accepting anything and a cheater in these matters would have hard time to gain any trust nor respect from him later, let alone get their ideas through to him.
But in his mind Aloysius had already decided, that whether this plan was real and good or a fraud, some cheap copy of someone else's great idea, he would make some use of it - even if he would have to dig out the real person behind the idea out of his/her grave. Surely what he had heard and seen of the Major, in this case, he thought such would most likely not be necessary. He wouldn't judge anyone before having properly met and discussed with them - such was his policy.
Waiting for Aden - soon to be reaching his study's door - he sipped his milk and continued to still briefly glance through the concept design sent by the Major. Not smart, eh? A perfect addition to his earlier plans, the least to be said. With this, something nice was definitely possible to be created - in sense of pure creation, as Aloysius tended to think these things. It was his salt of life, after all. No thought for the usage of it was given - except that it would have to work for it to be perfect. Sad, yes, heartless, could be said - but as Aloysius thought so much of those beloved inventions and work of his, the preciousness of human life was something he tended to forget, blinded by the beauty he saw solely in his creations. Who or what could be blamed of this - the Britannian Military. But no reason it was for him to stop his tinkering, for it was the main facility which provided him with the means to do so. A memorial for his father, and for his brother - some thoughts he had once used to actually go and get forward over their losses, but now such things being completely forgotten. It was just him and his work. Not that Aloysius had though anything of this in a while, in months - if possible, some of it, never.
The Chief of Science lifted his head and placed his cup back on the table as he heard a slight knock from the door of the room. He turned around on his chair, but bothered not to stand up, not yet at least, to face whoever would step in.

Aden took every opportunity to glance into the windows as he walked past them. He hoped to get to see some sort glimpse to what the future would look like. That is what Aden believed scientists did they built the future. While politicians try to steer people in some way towards the future it was always science that determined where they would be at in the future. This was the reason he had high respect for scientist and felt like Aloysius had a greater authority than even he knew he did. The receptionist received a page indicating that there was some trouble, and she was needed at the front. Before she departed she was kind enough to point the way to the room the Mr. Drebbel was currently working in.
Aden knocked when he reached the doorway to what could be a future that he would have a hand in building. Waiting a bit He went in "Mr. Drebbel it is nice to see you again." Aden exclaimed as he held his hand out to shake Aloysius . "I hope you have a copy of the designs handy there is a couple of components i want to discuss changing before we talk about anything else, if that is okay with you." Aden said as he beamed a golden smile of a pretentious rich kid at Mr. Drebbel. The time was now to make up for the middle east where Aden had lost his Knightmare frame to an anti-government organization that was supposed to only have 20 members, but Aden lost his whole platune that day. It was the screw-up military people loose their jobs because Aden was lucky he just got away with a De-motion.

"Mr. Drebbel it is nice to see you again."
Well, it was the young Major he had been expecting after all. Aloysius rose, and took the few steps closer to the other man to shake that so nicely held out hand of his, allowing a slight smile to his expression. "Well, quite my pleasure, Major..." , a quick, hidden glance towards the label at the front of his uniform jacket for a last name, "...Williams. You, after all, have provided me with something quite interesting here - not the usual excuse for an ideas like many others tend to do." He turned and went back to his desk, taking another sip of his milk and sitting back down again, and with a slight gesture with his hand told that the Major could by all means come freely closer. Though he didn't seem to move at first, only continuing: "I hope you have a copy of the designs handy there is a couple of components i want to discuss changing before we talk about anything else, if that is okay with you." The so-called golden boy smile left Aloysius stare at him a bit blankly for a moment - if he was trying to impress someone, Aloysius was totally a wrong person to be chosen for such. Least to be said, he didn't get the meaning of his smile at all. Secondly, even if he would have, some over-politeness nor smiles wouldn't do much difference to him - if Aden indeed wanted any kind of recognition from this scientist, he should have just trusted to the idea of his he had brought before the Chief of Science. That, if anything, mattered to Aloysius - and it was actually quite vain for Aden to try and impress him anymore. Let your work speak for yourself - not some totally useless gestures such as a fake smile. If Aloysius wanted a fake smile, he could have turned to just about anyone to receive one.
But, letting the moment pass, the Chief of Science's face soon covered itself with somewhat an impish smile. "Why, my good Major - they're right here. ...Is that so. Well, in that case I'll let you speak it out first, before I'll add anything. Overall, I'm interested to hear about his idea of yours with your own words - from your own mouth. Now, pray tell me about it, Major Williams. I'm most eager to listen." Aloysius leaned back in his chair taking a comfortable position, crossing his fingers under his chin to slightly lean his head forward on his knuckles, with an expression of expectancy on his face, but softened with an honest smile of pure interest. Now, let's hear it, Major. Show me what you've got - some gold for us all, or a fraud like that smile of yours.

Before Aloysis spoke he felt like he was also being flashed a fake smile, but then his words came and it became obvious that they were both playing the game of being fake, yet that did not matter it was time to get to work. "Well sir as see here," Aden said as he pointed to the part in the plans that dealt with the control system, "I have it instantly connected to a Knightmare's controls, but i was thinking perhaps that we could make it originally as an independent system. This would give people with out knightmare's, like myself, a chance to fight equally with-in a knightmare battle. Later we could adapt it for knightmare controls as well."
Aden thought that his quick change would go over well as most people did not have knightmares at this point. The military was having problems allocating funds to by each solider even the base model which would be simple. Aden awaited Aloysius's reply before he would go on to speak of components such as which guns should be used in it, and other possible features of these devices which he was hoping to call Dragoons.

"Well sir as see here," Aloysius waited, his gaze following to where the Major was pointing on the screen - "I have it instantly connected to a Knightmare's controls, but i was thinking perhaps that we could make it originally as an independent system. This would give people with out knightmare's, like myself, a chance to fight equally with-in a knightmare battle. Later we could adapt it for knightmare controls as well." The Chief of Science sat quiet. He looked at the screen for a while, then the emerald eyes shifting to the Major, and again to the screen. The moment of silence could be interpreted in many ways - let the Major himself decide what it meant this time.
Finally, a thoughtful 'hmm' voice left the scientist. Aloysius leaned forward turning to look back at Aden. "But you designed this weapon to be initially a system for a Knightmare usage, no?" Aloysius reached for his mug only to find that he had emptied it with the previous swig. " Now you see, my good Major, that these kind of systems are usually either - or. Though adapting it is possible, that I won't deny - but easy it definitely is not." He leaned back again, soon all proper and entirely businesslike. Not that he wouldn't have been serious about the matter all the time - frankly unjust it would have been to claim that the Chief of Science wouldn't have been serious about Knightmares, he always was.
"You see, Major - creating something for non-Knightmare usage is always easier than for a Knightmare, because one doesn't have to think about any other systems running with, within and along it for it to work. But a system to be developed for a Knightmare is totally different - it's were one must consider everything, every little piece of the whole along with the whole for the system and the device wielding it to work properly. Not even all the weapons designed for Knightmares work without a Frame, and independent systems not developed for a Knightmare work with a such even more seldom. Adapting a system of non-Knightmare weapon for a Knightmare takes time - even the whole construction of the system might have to be altered or even designed completely anew." Aloysius lifted his hand to point to the design still flashing on the screen, knocking the glass in front of the pixels providing it for them to view. "But here, you have the system quite ready only waiting to be installed to a Frame. I think it would be quite foolish to first modify the original system for non-Knightmare use only to get to re-do it again to make it once more a system suitable for a Frame." No, no no no nono... Aloysius went silent for a moment before continuing. "...That would be utterly stupid, now wouldn't it, Major? That's why I suggest we go on with what we already have here, and then adapt it later for non-Knightmare usage, if necessary. No going back and forth with the system unnecessarily, yes?"

Aloysuis’s words drove at Aden’s sub-conciseness like a poison tipped blow dart caster by a native at unsuspecting trespasser. In the regards Aloysuis’s was in the right to say everything and was correct about everything that had left his mouth, just like the native was in the right to blow the dart away. The problem here now was how to deal with accepting what the man said within his own pride. Scrapping a ready to go project for something else, only to change that something else to do the same purpose as the originally scrapped deign did indeed sound ridiculous.
Aden of course had other motives for switching the design, He did not have a knightmare to pilot. Without a Knightmare what was the point to designing a system for one. Didn’t the creator have the rights to use his own invention? The answer was of course not did these men in lab coats ever use the things they had a hand in shaping? That would probably be the reason that Aden had to suck it up and just go with his intentions instead of his ambitions. Sometimes though there was a way more compelling argument for Ambition. How Would Aden ever be known in this world if he did not go with his ambition? He would never make a name for himself after all what contributor to some random invention is remembered? None of them that is who.
Aden turned back to the Scientist you still seemed relatively pleasant, but Aden knew that couldn’t really be how he felt at this point in time. He was probably thinking that Aden was a typical jar head. A term which Aden resented greatly as it described a gnomish illertate member of society that was only in the military because they were tired of the Podunk town that they came from. Even though people Aden had heard been called that name never really fit the stereotypical predestination that was being handed down upon them.
“I guess your right So shall we get to work on the design, or I am not sure what to do now… I guess I am yours to command Mr. Drebbel” Aden said his head hanging low. He truly was baffled about what to do now, and was starting to wonder why he even came down here. He was just awkward here, but perhaps Aloysuis would have a use for the hands and muscles that Aden posed, but he probably had some kind of tool that could do what Aden could but better.

Unlike Aden thought, Aloysius did not think he was a typical jar head or anything of sorts. No typical jar head would have made it in to his office with plans and designs like this young Major had, and, for the Britannia's Chief of Science it was only common enough to face - may I say - amateur inventors who just didn't think everything so throughoutly like a professional such as he did. Besides, what interested the scientist more were still the designs rather than wasting his brain capacity to think of someone as a jar head.
“I guess your right So shall we get to work on the design, or I am not sure what to do now… I guess I am yours to command Mr. Drebbel” Aloysius glanced towards the young man, but couldn't have less noticed his awkwardness, only that he suddenly looked somewhat miserable. "Of course you are.", the scientist answered, "But no need to look like you had sold your land because of it. Now. Here really isn't much for me to change in the design, and if you have something to add, then, pray tell it now." He leaned back in his chair. As far as it mattered to him, the Major was free to speak whenever he had something to say. Apparently the Major just didn't seem to catch the message - which, speaking of Aloysius, wasn't really uncommon. But, having said that anyway, he was already moving on and if the Major was asking for something to do considering the matter, well, sure the scientist would have something to ask of him. "What I'd like to have are blueprints out of these designs. Good old-fashioned paper ones, if you please.
