Korrine's pale naked body slowly stepped into the cool water of the lake. She walked until the water concealed everything below her waist. She cupped her hands in the water and began to splash it on her body successfully washing the dirt and sweat of her that she had collected throughout the day. She paused for a moment to gaze up at the moon.
"It sure is peaceful tonight," she said aloud. "The moon looks exactly the same as that fateful night... When I met her..."
~Flashback~ Korrine felt the water crashing over her body relentlessly. She fought to stay afloat, but it was no use. The waves were much too strong for her to even stand a chance against. Just as she thought she was sure to drown, the waves dumped her on the shore of an unknown place.
She felt her mind slipping in and out of consciousness. At some point, the raven haired woman managed to roll onto her back to prevent the tide from drowning her. At one point she managed to stay conscious for a few minutes. Her red eyes focused on the full moon above her. Just as she was slipping back into unconsciousness, a white haired angel appeared above her. Days later she woke to the same angel staring at her.
Thanks to her now Master, she survived. Had the white haired angel not fatefully found her, she would have died that day before completing her life's mission. She owed the woman her life and vowed to spend all eternity paying her back.
Korrine was snapped out of her thoughts as she heard a quiet noise from behind her. Instinctively she covered her exposed breasts and quickly turned around.
"Who's there?!" she called out.
If it was an enemy, she was at a great disadvantage. Her katanas and clothes were resting on a branch high up in a tree a decent distance away. The closest thing to her was a towel. She could possibly distract them with her body and the towel for a moment, but not long enough to retrieve her weapons. It was at this point in time she wished she were far more skilled in hand to hand combat.

Lights outs, Night's out. Night and the dark of dusk was far and gone past; fare thee well, sunny-boy. She sways too and fro like a reed in the grass, gliding like a may flower, gray flower, shay shower. Shade like a veil to cover, but to cover what, so innocent and soft like the lily that roofs the snake.
She is walking and the Night-sun glows pale and cool, shining on her and bleaching whiteness ivory. It's a lake here, wet and round like a silver dollar that she can hold in her hand. She did once, a long time before when all watering holes were small and newly born. Too long or not long enough. Splish-splash. A sound hark yonder and she sees the stars and remembers. They glitter in the tree and peek from behind red and black fabric and she thinks a tease will grace her eyes.
Her last whimsy rocks in the waves, ebony hair in tendrils and she thinks how lovely they would be tied to a post, holding her down. Her whimsies are close and many between, this one barely the latest, less recent then the strangest request she's actually remained faithful to. Pretty little broken one, all blue in the water with mouthfuls of wet like an ever-ful cup. Once upon a time she drank from it and spat air back in; she doesn't know why but it's been fun in the meanwhile watching.
She can see her splashing. Bare as a newborn, just as fragile with shiny toys locked high up and behind in trees. She knows it too, scared tones masking a lack of surety. She steps out and cocks her head, Glasgow Smile in place for all the world to see, for what is a smile than a things to admire.
"Pretty little thing, all alone. There are better places to wash away filth than a lake full of it."

Korrine sighed in relief as she instantly recognized her white haired angel. "Oh Master, it's just you," she said. "I wish you wouldn't sneak up on me all the time."
Turning her back to the woman, she submerged herself under water for a moment to cleanse her hair. Satisfied that it was well and clean she surfaced and took a deep breath of clean air. She squeezed the excess water out of her hair before tossing her head back and letting the damp hair slap against her wet back.
It stung a bit, but it felt good to her. She didn't even bother looking over her shoulder as she answered her saviors odd statement. She was well used to her dialogue and translating it by now.
"This is one of the few places that hasn't been bastardized by all of humanity. Besides," she paused to glance at the woman, "I like being close to nature."
She winked before turning back to the water. She dipped one arm in the water and used her other hand to rub the water on it to clean it more deeply. She did the same with her other arm before speaking to her Master again.
"I doubt you were on a midnight stroll. What brings you here Master?" she questioned.

Pretty black thing likes her. So strange a thing, but there you go. She looks and looks as her companion is relived and goes back to her bathing. She blinks and watches the water; it ripples like snakes. Ripples like flesh peeled off and thrown about. She pinches her mouth and walks toward the lapping shore, shedding her dress over her head and throwing it in the sand. She sits in the wet messy in-between and makes a task of removing her shoes and stockings. The heels are thin thin and sink so easily into the sand, she has to pitch forward slighting onto the toes when she walks here. The black of her leggings are dirty now, back of her thighs, and she has to wiggle to unclip the garter clasps.
"Nature is relative. Being close to it is a paradox if you bring your own humanity to it." Sand is gumming the snaps. She has tug the thin belt to take it off and it won't fit right later, she knows it. Her legs are free, free to wiggle white in the pale, and she falls back so she's flat in the surf. Lakes are calm things, no wind to wave her more and more wet then she is and thats fine. She shifts again; the scratch is nice. She wiggles her toes and stares up.
The stars are bright out here. "I can't see the stars anymore. Did you know that? Pretty things, so small and shiny and everywhere. Blackest night and they shown like polished silver in firelight." So very bright and shiny, like pinpricks when eyes are shut tight tight tight. "Can't see anything anymore. Everything good is gone." She rolls over and crawls around so she's facing the water and that strange slip of a thing standing in it that likes her for some reason. Strange baby that knows she's great and terrible and doesn't mind. She isn't the first but she's certainly the most forgiving. Baby's said she'd give her life for her, so it doesn't matter what she says, Baby will die and never never tell; she promised.
"I miss the stars. The gods told you what to do up there, we knew what to do from the messages written in the sky. Now it's all black and pinpricked and a blur. Nobody has a role because nobody can read the letters." She props her head in her hands, elbows crooked in the canals her feet made from before. "People were smarter. None of this 'technology' nonsense. Actual knowledge."
She digs her nails into her cheeks. "Nobody turning others into creatures and calling it 'progress'. Proper people. People aren't people anymore." If the world ended tomorrow, no-one important would have died; they were already gone.

"Even a fool would have to admit to the truth with your words," Korrine added. "Without their precious technology, the people in this world would wither out and die. Only those of us who truly rely on their own intuition and strength would survive. It's how the world should be." She paused to gaze up at the stars. Even out on this lake, they were barely shimmering. "It's sad isn't it?"
She closed her eyes as a cool breeze blew past her. At least out here, it's peaceful and free from the fiery hatred felt in the city. she thought.
The black haired assassin lowered her gaze back to the lake momentarily before turning to walk back on shore. She had cleansed her body enough for now. Grabbing the towel she had laid out earlier, she wrapped it around herself. Korrine looked back at her master as she spoke again.
"With your help Master, we can restore the stars to the shimmering beauty they possessed some time ago."

"Even a fool would have to admit to the truth with your words. Without their precious technology, the people in this world would wither out and die. Only those of us who truly rely on their own intuition and strength would survive. It's how the world should be." Baby murmurs, and looks out at the stars that Hebe misses so much. "It's sad isn't it?"
She closes her eyes against the image of her faithful one walking out of a fluid mirror, staring up or out. She doesn't know what sad is; sad is watching for millennia as imperfect perfection falls into a mess of now-now-now and more-more-more and everything that used to matter doesn't and there's no consequence for deciding one day to slit the throat of the person sitting next to you or convincing the man down the hall that he should eat his gun, because if she didn't do it, someone else would, and probably for monetary value.
"With your help Master, we can restore the stars to the shimmering beauty they possessed some time ago." She looks up at Baby and sees all that glorious milk skin get covered by a fluffy machine manufactured towel and feels vaguely like she's witnessing a walking metaphor. Or irony. She sighs and rolls onto her back. Sand coats every inch of her save her face and she feels exfoliated and filthy. Her stockings and dress and shoes are by her toes; she pokes them and wiggles as the scratchy pebbles sneak under her panties.
She sits up and looks at her self-sentenced slave, curling her legs on either side of her and traces patterns in the sand. She feels fourteen or younger and looks petulantly up at the other woman. "I have sand in my hair."
