Kenta grinned as he looked toward the iron island that was coming into view. "Pengali Island, home of the legendary Black Knights." he whispered to himself. The small fishing boat bobbed up and down as it made its way toward the metallic shore. It could not move fast enough to make Kenta calm down. He was merely yards from his dream. As soon as the bow of the boat made contact with the sandy shore Kenta picked up his duffel bag and waved toward the salty fisherman. "Thanks for the lift gramps!" he called out as he leaped off the boat and ran toward the city. The sound of various objects rattling around was heard from within his bag as he ran.
Now that he was here he had to move on to his next objective. He needed to find a Knightmare Frame. Preferably, he could get a more modern model, though even an outdated Burai would do. He shuddered with anticipation. He grasped the strap of his bag and put on a burst of speed. He spent an hour ducking into alleyways and climbing whatever he could to gain a proper vantage point. He eventually found a suitable target. No more than two blocks away was a large Akatsuki which seemed to be stopped. Kenta jumped off of the structure he had climbed and ran towards is, his excitement giving him the energy he needed to make it there.
Luck was on his side. The pilot had exited his craft to relieve himself in an alleyway. Kenta almost laughed at how easy this was turning out to be, but he bit his tongue. He put down his duffel bag and rummaged around in it. He found what he was looking for. He pulled out a sleek boken with several large dents in it. With it grasped in both hands he quietly approached the soldier. Slowly he approached. His breathing slowed and his footsteps barely made a sound as he advanced. Ten feet... five feet... three feet... two feet.... one foot.
Kenta bit his bottom lip to hold back the laugh that had been trying to escape since he spotted the man. He brought up his wooden blade and then brought it down with such force that it could have shattered if it had struck a harder surface. The man grunted and then collapsed to the ground. Kenta knelt down and pressed his index and middle finger to the man's neck. He was still alive. Kenta searched his person and was able to find a pistol, fully loaded of course. He removed the holster from the man's belt and placed it on his own, he had heard plenty of rumors of men shooting themselves by accident while their gun was tucked into their pants and he did not want to be one of them.
He collected his things and then boarded the knightmare frame. As he sat in the controls he took everything in. The controls looked the same, but felt different from the simulator. The scent of the machine was intoxicating and the power he felt when he grasped the controls was intoxicating. If he had the time he would have taken the Akatsuki out for a joyride, but he needed to stay focused. Kenta checked all of the systems and was happy to see that he was able to understand them. He moved the control sticks and was surprised at how sensitive they were. He almost crashed into a nearby building. He reached out and placed the frames hand against it, causing some bricks to shift.
"Kinda touchy," he told himself as he looked at the controls. He exhaled as he realized that while it felt the same it was completely different. "Let's have another go." He gave the controls a tug and the responded appropriately. With the machine finally under control Kenta checked his watch. The sun was almost setting. He had thirty minutes to get to the main base. He checked his operation time and was please to see that his "borrowed" machine had an hour of power left in it. He forced the machine to crouch and then powered it down.
For the time being he would wait. Time passed slowly for Kenta, even as he listened to his mp3 player. Every thirty seconds he glanced toward the horizon, waiting for the sun to set behind it. Eventually, the time for his mission to start came around. He let out a cheerful laugh as he made the machine stand and grasped its controls. He pressed them forward and made his way into the heart of the Black Knight's territory. The radar showed quite a bit of activity, of course it would. It was night and there were in the middle of a war. They were on high alert as soon as the sun set. It did not matter to Kenta though. He would fight countless enemies to prove that he was worthy of being a true knight.
Under the cover of night he made his way toward the main base. Adrenaline surged through his body and made him jittery. He should have been terrified, but instead he was happy. It was the happiest he had been in a long time. When he finally made it he forced the Akatsuki to stop. He opened up the broadcast link and then took in a deep breath. "Black Knights! I, Kenta Yoshikuni, challenge you! I have come to prove myself worthy of becoming a knight!" With that he readied the kaiten yaibatou. "Come on!" he added.
