-Araragi Misao (Mother, Deceased)
-Higuchi Imai (Father, Deceased)
-Higuchi Kirei (Grandfather, Deceased)
Description:
An average gamerin appearance, Yuya is lanky, with a whitish skin that looks almost fluorescent. With constant shadows under his eyes and his glasses, it's obvious that this particular boy has spent too much time in front of a computer. Seems to always twitch due to his constant caffeine high. Has a normal-enough smile that does tend to hide a jittery, nervous and yet playful streak. Has a distinctive reddish tint to his eyes and also the kind of stare that is generally unnerving for most people due to its intensity.
Personality:[/font]
[*code]Slightly reclusive, Yuya is not especially sociable on the onset, reserving himself and generally giving off the look and attitude of the average gamer. Somewhat sarcastic and prone to making comments that border on the snide. In his defense, though, he is loyal to his employers and friends. He has a strong sense of pride and, when it is damaged, may play a variety of pranks (such as programming the emergency sprinklers to activate every time one enters the room, playing loud music at the most inopportune times or putting porn on your desktop wallpaper. Slightly obsessive-compulsive and mildly paranoid to attempts to brainwash him from the internet. Generally ill-disposed towards internet MMORPGs or games in general. Rather attached to the internet and is generally seen with a laptop of some sort when not in his office. Ill-disposed to any food that one requires more than 15 minutes to prepare.
Like many inventors, Yuya is rather proud of his work and will display it to people who come to his office, sometimes wasting time going on tangents. If insulted on his work, he may respond strongly. Dislikes people tampering with his work and vengeful towards plagiarism. Enjoys loud music (the louder the better--apparently, it helps keep his mind running) and useless souvenirs. Keeps an inherited sword in his office as a reminder of his heritage, though he most definitely has no idea how to wield it. Like most geeks, ill-disposed towards physical combat and work, probably because he can't do much of it. Generally ends statements in Japanese with "De arimasu," a suffix used by samurai and nobles in the past. Learns most things rather quickly, despises chess for its lack of depth. At one time, Yuya created a game called Modern Chess, but nobody else quite understood how one's queen could call in an airstrike or how a king could have a harem of queens.[*/code]
History:
[*code]The Araragi part of Yuya's history is fairly uninteresting, mostly consisting of a family had maintained a shrine in Kyoto since the 1500's. The Higuchi side, that of his father, Imai, was another thing. While nobody is really quite sure if they're right, the Higuchi claim descent from both the famous Muramasa and Masamune swordsmiths of ancient Japan. Indeed, in the days of the first Britannian Occupation, the Higuchi family obtained some wealth through crafting ceremonial and functional swords for the Britannian nobility. Even up until the time of Yuya's grandfather, Higuchi Kirei, the practice of forging continued to be perfected and used. During the first rebellion, the Katen Yaibatou, the main melee weapon of the Black Knights, was originally concieved by a member of the Higuchi clan working in India. The skills involved were transmitted all the way to the time of Yuya's father. Imai Higuchi, however, was discontent with the relatively poor area in which the Higuchi family lived, and so instead pursued a career in web design. It was over the internet that he met Misao Araragi, a young woman with a similar dislike of the Shrine environment she had been raised in. They were married not long after, bearing Yuya Higuchi in a fairly affluent neighborhood in Kyoto.
Yuya's early childhood was fairly uneventful--but when he was four, Imai and Misao were both pulled into the world of MMORPG. Both of them were captivated by one particular game. As soon as Yuya could learn to use a computer, he was taught to play. While Misao and Imai worked, he was tasked with level-grinding their characters. When he wasn't, he was sent to stay with his Grandfather. While Imai Higuchi was less than impressed with knightmare combat in an era where both swords and knigthmares were considered to be long-since obsolete, Yuya was amazed by it. Working with his grandfather, he learned many of the skills required both to forge hand weapons and to assemble knightmares through old manuals and blueprints Kirei Higuchi had kept from his ancestors. And yet his father and mother were unimpressed. Gradually, their personalities seemed to dim, and increasingly they came home from work having been reprimanded for playing when they should have been working. Eventually, both were fired--but they hardly seemed to care, as long as they could keep holding on to the computer and the internet. The family's mortgage payments were behind, their food had degenerated to canned foods and instant noodles--and yet the only thign seen at night was the blue glow of the CPU screen. Yuya, too, longed to be acknowledged as something more than a level-grinder--and gradually, his loneliness changed into animosity--not towards his parents, but towards the game. Having worked on the internet since such a young age, by Ten he figured out how to program--or reprogram a game. And so, when he was 10, he one day made a decision--in order to regain his family's life outside of the internet, he would have to kill his parent's accounts. But not just their accounts, for they could always make more--but the whole game. For someone raised speaking the language of the internet, Yuya knew exactly how to do it. He returned home happily, waiting for his parents to welcome him, to become once again what they had been before The Game had stepped into their lives--but all he found were two dead bodies hanging from the cieling. Imai Higuchi and Misao Araragi had already long since died. Their personalities had long-since changed into the characters they played. And when that game died, they, too, simply ceased to live.
Of course, nobody suspected Yuya. the Japanese Government sent him to live with his grandfather Kirei. In order to continue going to his private school, he needed to get a job. Manual labor certainly didn't work for him--and so he did what he did best--game. By creating accounts and, whether through hacking or otherwise buffing them up, Kirei could then sell them at sometimes ridiculous prices. Yuya learned quickly, and so his teacher praised his scores--if not his concentration lapses. Yuya was preparing to enter college when Japan was once again invaded by a resurgent Britannia. While Japan was not as badly unprepared as last time, its knightmare force was outdated and creaky, and it was destroyed in moments as Zero, the guardian of Japan, fled into hiding. Kirei was shocked by the failure of hte Japanese army to advance its knightmare arsenal and immediately drew up plans for knightmares with Yuya, bringing up his old contacts in Poland. Poland, a nation that had always known the threat of Britannia, had been one of the first EU nations to approve the UFN charter and had been attempting to raise awareness for years, led by Jan Szynwald, the founder of the new Knightmare company Szynwald Industries. On a visit to the Japanese military establishment prior to the war, Jan had been impressed by plans for new knightmares from both Yuya and Kirei, shelved by the confident Japanese Military. For a time, it was Szynwald that provided Burai and Gekka to the reformed Black Knights and JSDF remnants. One day, a message from Kirei to Poland was intercepted. Yuya, who had gained a penchant for hacking the Britannian communications network, got wind of this a few minutes in advance, notifying the Polish Embassy and Kirei. The Polish military immediately smuggled Yuya and Kirei seperately out of Kyoto. Unfortunately, only one group arrived at the Polish Embassy--Kirei Higuchi's convoy had been intercepted, and in the Polish soldiers' attempt to break out, all members were killed.
For the next few years, Yuya worked as both a technician and a programmer while finishing his education in Poland. During that time, he gained fluency in several languages and also completed both the Assisted Piloting Interface (API) and the Hive Integrated Target Acquisition Interface (HITAI), both of whom were used along with the new Panzer Knightmares, the Panzer Tiger, the Panzer Schutze and the Panzer Landwehr. Yuya has connections to both the Black Knights and the Sons of Liberty in Area 6. Currently, he plans to escort the new Landwehr Knightmare frames to the new Gran Colombian Armies in Area 6. While physically inept and almost defenseless save for a limited skill with his sword, Yuya is an extremely talented knightmare pilot from his gaming skills and in fact can match professional pilots in simulations, though he has yet to be battle tested.[*/code]
Goal or Dream:
Yuya doesn’t have any particular dreams or desires, and at the moment his only goal is to become ever better at what he does (at programming and designing).

Faction:(European Union)
[*code](OOC: How do I explain the European Union? I guess I’ll just explain Poland.) In the middle ages, Poland was one of the few nations that was a match to the Ottoman Empire. Since then, it has fostered a powerful warrior culture based on cavalry (and later armor). During the Napoleonic Wars, the Duchy of Warsaw, formed by Napoleon, successfully fought off both Russia in the East and Austria in the west, becoming a nation feared for its military might. In the first Great War, it sided with France against Prussia and took the brunt of the force of the Eastern Front against Prussian forces. Poland was one of the few countries that warned against the resurgent strength of Germany prior to the Second Great War and as a result was the first one facing the full brunt of the Blitzkrieg. Poland later assisted the Republic of England and the Republic of Ireland in its defeat of the Empire of Japan.
Poland, the Eastern Bulwark of Europe, had warned for years against Britannian aggression in East Asia, though its lack of continents (or any particular naval power) meant that nobody was quite inclined to listen, satisfied with knowing that economic sanctions could bring a country to its knees. Poland actively resisted the Britannian attacks in the EU and sent its own aces to Area 11. Poland was one of the first nations to approve the UFN charter (Canon, Diethard mentions it to Lelouch) At the formation of the UFN, Polish and Eastern European Lisowczyk volunteers, led by Frederik Szymanowski, led the 7th Squad of the Black Knights (Canon, listed in the roster when the UFN was formed), while a Britannian Pole, Monica Kruszewski, led the Royal Guard of Emperor Charles vi Britannia and also the loyalist force against Emperor Lelouch I the Usurper (though she was killed in the process). Many of the Lisowcyyk Volunteers of the 7th Squad were killed in the Battle above Japan, something the Poles dearly remembered. With the revival of the Imperialism of the old Britannia, Polish Newspapers were the first to cry foul (though the fact that they do this so often meant that they were somewhat ignored by the overall European Community). Recently, Poland made an agreement of mutual defense with its onetime archrival, Germany, and began collaborating with Germany’s Panzer-Krupp Metalworks to produce Knightmares.[*/code]
