Family:
Tai Ling-Shio - mother - diseased
Long Ling-Shio- father - retired from military
Description:
[*code]Ke-Lan stands 5'6 with a light muscle build and thin frame. She has straight black hair, reaching down to just above her waist, usually tied back in a ponytail or braid. She has brown eyes and pale skin mainly due to her hours in the lab. Ke-Lan is barely ever seen out of uniform.[*/code]
Personality:
[*code]Ke-Lan is cold and distant. She detest getting emotionally attached to anything or anyone. However, this can at times prove difficult. Ke-Lan prefers to think of people as lab specimens rather than sentient beings. This makes it easier to remain detached... though this also tends to frighten or intimidate people, specially those who work under her.
Although cold, Ke-Lan believes in good manners, and she is very respectful to her superiors. She demands this same level of respect from her subordinates, and will at times become rather infuriated and even violent if disrespected by someone she considers inferior. Ke-Lan shows a great deal of patriotism, like many Chinese, but in reality she puts herself and her own goals before those of the Dynasty.
Ke-Lan has never shown to be interested in a relationship, but she does seem to have a soft spot for females rather than males. This might be because of her practice shooting down the advances of men, and no need to do so towards females as of yet... or it might be that she finds greater ease in familiarizing with other females. Regardless, there are many who believe that if Ke-Lan was ever to find a partner, it would be another woman. Mention of this on front of her is a sure way to get into a lot of trouble... if not just stabbed with a scalpel. [*/code]
History:
[*code]Ke-Lan was born an only child to nobility. Her mother died due to complications during Ke-Lan’s birth. Her father, although loving, was usually absent due to his work in the military. Ke-Lan was usually alone in her family’s estate, surrounded by cold servants. Ke-Lan thought little of said servants, even as a child, and decided she’d rather take care of herself rather than allow them to take care of her.
Although Ke-Lan’s father was usually absent, he had the best wishes for his daughter. Ke-Lan received the best education money could buy. This, accompanied by Ke-Lan’s incredible ability to absorb information like a sponge, made her top of her class. However, even as Ke-Lan’s academic life was outstandingly successful, her social life was non-existent.
Ke-Lan was advanced quite a few grades in school, and by age 13 she graduated High School and headed out to study in college, focusing on a double-major in biology and physics. By age 18 she had earned a Masters in biology and a Bachelor’s Degree in physics. It was then that Ke-Lan, following her father’s footsteps, joined the military as an officer. She soon became a knightmare specialist and tactician, choosing to be on the field leading her forces. During this time Ke-Lan began making suggestions to the R&D department about improvements for knightmares and equipment. This draw the attention of the R&D department to Ke-Lan’s academic history. In no time they were begging her to join the team. Ke-Lan was reluctant at first, wanting to be in the field of battle rather than in a lab... but after her dad’s retirement when she was 22 she decided to settle down for lab work. It wasn’t long before she was raising ranks in the R&D department. It is her goal to become the next head of this department.
She has worked on many improvements to knightmare design and equipment, along with ship development. But her dream was to get permission to begin her biological research. With her current rise to the position of Chief of Science, she hopes to convince the Kingdom's officials to allow her to venture into her biological research.[*/code]
Goal or Dream:
[*code]To be allowed to research biological augmentation and warfare. She also secretly wishes for recognition and glory.[*/code]

*Brief example of Role Play:
[*code] Bagare came out of hyperspace near O-78. The space around this region was very rough, with countless asteroid clusters. Eclectis waved his antennae, receiving further instructions, moving Bagare into the sector the Hive Brains had scanned. It was past any inhabited planet, but still in Hive space. He soon found himself approaching a huge asteroid the size of a planet. Bagare seemed hesitant. In the many years Eclectis has known Bagare, he had never seen it be scared of anything... but he felt it himself, deep in his exoskeleton.
Bagare moved over to the large asteroid, but as soon as he was a hundred kilometers from it, Bagare stopped solid in space. A voice came through both Bagare's and Eclectis' antennae, a deep terrible guttural voice, "Eclectis, hundred and fifty seventh prince of the ten thousand and eighty one generation of the Septi. State your business."
Eclectis tilted his head. Had this asteroid spoken to him?
He waved his antennae, relaying a message, "I am here out of the will of the Hive Brains. It is their wish for us to meet."
There was silence in space for a few seconds, before another message came in, "Very well. You may land."
Bagare moved closer, landing on the asteroid. Eclectis climbed out, entering his anaerobic state. He crawled out over Bagare's body and onto the asteroid's surface, realizing that it wasn't made of rock... it was a dark green, almost black, with plates, similar to those of an insect or an armadillo. It was at that moment Eclectis realized this planet-sized 'asteroid' was actually a living being.
Thousands of small fiber-covered tendrils slithered out of the surface, wrapping around Eclectis' limbs. He felt shocked at first, but knew better than to defy the will of the Hive Brains. He allowed it to happen, as the tendrils engulfed him and 'swallowed' him into the surface. Darkness surrounded Eclectis, accompanied by the sound of a pulse. A heart beating. Walls contracting and retracting... breathing...
The tendrils kept moving Eclectis down, deeper and deeper, until he reached a large chamber. A dim light illuminated the room, deep green, a tone Eclectis recognized as bioluminescent. Long creatures emerged from chambers around the room. Eclectis felt the urge to raise his bladed limbs, but something stopped him. Although these beings were different, their pheromones were very similar to that of his kind.
The long creatures gathered around Eclectis, their bodies resembling centipedes, about twelve feet in length. They all spoke in perfect unison, "We are The Swarm. We've heard the call of your masters, and have come answering such a call. What is it you want from us?"
Their voices were terrifying, even to Eclectis, a virtually emotionless being. He waved his antennae in the respectful manner, as he spoke, "The Hive Brains wish to accept you into our society. Much like we took in the Craddulons, we now wish to take you, the Swarm, in. We do this in respect, an in need, as we wish for you to aid us in the destruction of our target: the Auraelians. We also wish to inform you that if you accept this alliance, we will gladly give you any uninhabited planets in our system. You will also be protected by the great Void race, who are the ones who have sought us out to destroy the Auraelians."
The centipede-like beings began making a clicking noise, one which started low, but slowly increased in volume and speed. Then, suddenly, it died out. They spoke together again, "We, the Collective of the Swarm, accept your request. You can count on us. The rest of our hives shall enter this system and begin colonization of accepted planets. We are very grateful of your offer and respect, prince Eclectis."[*/code]
*Role Playing Experience in Years: 13
-Forgotten Realms chat room: the chat room does not exist any more. I played a myriad of characters, from eccentric demons to strange pandimensional beings with no concern for the petty quarrels of the mortals in the tavern.
-numerous other chat rooms now dead: there were at least three other chat rooms that we migrated to after the fall of Forgotten Realms. In those other chat rooms I was introduced to the Furry sub-culture, and enjoyed playing quite a few furry characters. Most of my characters had a similar theme: demonic, psychotic, homicidal, and usually extremely sexual. However, I did like to mix it up. I played a few Star Wars original characters including my feared sith lord Darth Necros. At one point I also played a hemopheliac who only spoke in rhymes and prose.
-Star Wars Forever: this was my venture into forum-based roleplay. Originally just a forum for star wars fans in my area, it later included a very intense roleplay. In it I played all sorts of wicked villains to keep the story going [many of which perished in epic battles].
-Silent Hill Nightmare: probably one of my most enjoyable forum roleplay experiences. Silent Hill Nightmare lasted over five years with just a handful of dedicated players. In it I played everything from regular people stuck in the town to escaped lunatics, a witch, and even one of the gods of the town in a time I had taken over as ‘gm’. But, in time, the group died, and most of us players grew apart.
-numerous adult rps I will not mention by name: Most of these were hosted by me. One in particularly was VERY successful, with over 20 active members. I will not make people swallow hard and scowl at me with the details of the characters I played, but they were in the full spectrum from naive to sadomasochistic.
-Angel Technologies: a full yuri rp with an intricate story that I hosted in Yahoo Groups. At one point it had over 20 posts per day. Being the admin/gm I had over 30 active characters. Although it was a yuri rp, the story was deep and complex, involving political corruption, magical technologies, and a ruthless empress hell-bent on world domination. It too died over time, as players became too busy with real life affairs.
-Twilight Reality: another board of mine that was not as successful, thanks to the rubbish of proboards. Twilight Reality revolved around a world of my invention. I played quite a number of characters, including the leaders of many of the nations, and a few others in order to keep everyone entertained. My characters included a vulture humanoid that specialized in the creation of amulets, a flirtatious dragon that preferred to stay in human form and hang out with farmers to escape the stress of military uprisings, a war priest with doubts on his faith who later fell in love with a demon he had rescued... and so many others.
-Silent Hill: Inferno: my own take on the Silent Hill universe. This was also one of my boards. Here I played a gang-affiliated female assassin with serious anger problems, a serial-killer rock star with strange supernatural aptitudes, and even a pious conservative woman with a deep hatred for all my other characters.
-Stardust Rain: one of my original rps that I refuse to give up [would actually like to make it an affiliate of this site]. In Stardust I played, as usual, a myriad of characters. From psychotic mech pilots to strange giant insects with a faint resemblance of sentience.
There is so much more to this list, but most of it I either can’t recall or won’t recall at the moment. In short I’ve played everything from children to animals to adults to gods. No one has ever complained about my roleplaying abilities, given I always give a full spectrum of personality to all my characters [unless they aren’t supposed to be sentient] and even while playing gods I make sure not to abuse of the power they have. I’ve only killed the characters others wished to dispose of, and with quite some remorse I might add... and my own characters... well, they are quite mortal. At times I chose to have them die just for the dramatic impulse it would have on a storyline.
