"I see Mr. Drebbel the ambitions for this project out weighed the actual progress of it? My being here done in vain correct?
What could Aloysius answer to this but a simple nod.
"I'm afraid so, Major. Having been here for the last couple of days has quite efficiently proven so - and as I was kindly informed only just this morning that there had been people to also sent here for some trials... I apologize on behalf of my staff to not have informed you earlier about the situation and spared your time of coming here."
"Mr. Drebbel i do have something i would like to talk to you about a concept that could be added to Frames."
Well, apparently bumping into the scientist hadn't been all in vain for the Major after all - though Aloysius could always come up with a couple of far more convenient ways for him to contact the Science department and the Chief of Science if he really had something for them. Ah well. Aloysius lifted an interested eyebrow.
"Oh? Is that so, Major?"
"I see that you aloy I guyess I will just have to inspect the base then if you will excuse me gentleman" Aloysius turned to nod at the prince, then altering it to a slight bow as the royal one left their presence. Maybe he was old-fashioned, maybe even over-polite considering the situation, but it was Aloysius - hard to train the old dog out of it's habits, eh?
"Look at him go." He heard the silent remark escaping the doctor's lips, but let it go as if he had never heard it. Straightening himself, he turned to give a smile to the young Major.
"Well, Major, if you have such a concept, why don't you send it to me. I could take a look at it... And if it proves out to be something worthy, I'm more than happy to continue having a conversation about it with you."
"I see that you have been quite busy with Knightmares as ever, Mr. Drebbel. Pity, I am simply busy as ever with the royalty taking care of their wounds, you are out there, inventing things and performing technological breakthroughs, wouldn't you think? But then again, its not my place as a royal doctor to be talking about these things, after all, I haven't done anything to aid civilization as you have."
Aloysius made a small waving gesture with his hand through the air.
"Why, surely you give yourself quite too little credit, Sir. Technological breakthroughs or not, most likely you've had your own ones in medical fields... I would doubt it is it for nothing that you are the royal Doctor."
A hint of slyness crept upon his smile.
"Isn't taking care of the royalty our best aid for civilization?"
What I have done, could hardly be called aid... A though crossed his mind, but Aloysius didn't let it bother himself - not too much, at least, not right now. Got to give credits for the doctor - he had actually managed to make some part of Aloysius' conscience tweak a bit, just the bit to show himself it still was there. Which felt, least to be said, uneasy. Aloysius was to hide it, forget it as soon as possible - or it might break through a hell unknown from before. A personal hell, maybe - but when a scientist went mad it hardly never also ended up just personal. Compress the feeling, now push it away...
Half nodding, half bowing, the Chief of Science bid politely farewell to the Doctor now leaving. Before he also took his way, he winked at the Major.
"Give me something nice to think about, okay? Good day to you too, Major."
And with that, he left, heading for the gate from which he was supposed to have a transport back to his own base in Pendragon. At least at some point.
