Alright, so I'm starting this thread out of curiosity. The rules - if that's what you want to call them - are simple: post your reason(s) for Role Playing on sites such as this one. I'm not sure why, but I like knowing about people's motives. They're terribly interesting, really.
I suppose it's only right that I start.
I have several reasons for Role Playing. The first is rather obvious: it's fun. It's great to become someone else, if for just a few minutes. Someone that has different motives, thoughts, beliefs, skills, etc., etc...
The second is tied to the first. I'm an actor. Role Playing on sites like this help me to practice my craft through characterization - the process of becoming someone not you. Admittedly, I put some of myself in all my characters, but that makes it more enjoyable in my opinion.
And lastly (for now, probably), it's a cathartic experience. I didn't even realize it until a few hours ago, but posting here is surprisingly relaxing. I won't bore you, dear reader, with the details, but suffice it to say that I woke up this morning with a big sign on my back that said "Fail goes here," and I wound up taking my bad mood out on my roommates. After posting, however, I found that all the day's stresses and problems were more or less gone; it came as something of a shock.
Anyway, those are my reasons. I may or may not add more later and the rest falls to you. Post - or not - as you like. Like I said, I like to pick at people's brains and so would appreciate replies, but it's your life and your choice. Thanks for reading and (where applicable) replying! ;D
