'Twas the night before Tuesday, and all through the base, not a creature was stirring, not even the M.A.C.E. (Multi Armed Culprit Eviscerater - Stay Outta My Lab!). As Anju ran swiftly, avoiding the guards, she giggled quite maniacally, hiding her cards. For this was a time that must be carefully pruned, as an anniversary would be arriving very soon.
Grinning widely, she traversed the corridors of the residents halls of the Pengali Base. Something special was going to happen, and she needed help if it was going to be the best level of spectacular possible. Finally finding the right hall, Anju counted off room numbers. '30A, 32A, 34A- here we go.' She rapped her knuckles lightly on the frame; this operation required discretion, discipline and a certain disregard for listening to superior officers. Not that she really cared all that much in that respect but if her plan was going to work, she needed people who could maintain a straight face and control of their bowel functions when faced with a suspicious Commander.
"Knock, knock," she whispered. Nothing. She rapped the door harder. "Oi! Yeka! Open! There is mischief afoot! I'm conscious and standing! Aid me!" But quietly. She was lucky that Sakura had gone to bed while Anju was still on the garage floor, else the lack of techie snoring in their shared flat on the upper levels woulda tipped her off.

The nightfall having quieted down the base from the activities of daytime, it didn't mean no one wouldn't have been yet awake. At least not the woman who bore the title of the Secretary General. And with that she had her own fair share of the paperwork among other things, so instead of the good night's sleep the many were able to enjoy even at the moment, she was still very much awake accompanied by enough papers to be called loads. But what a delightful load it was in somewhat a twisted way - though wading through it was tiring even in her opinion, at least it meant something was going on. And when something was happening - sans half the garbage along with it - it meant progress. In a way or another, progress for the Black Knights, and progress for what she had sighted for all of her life. And now that their masked leader had finally made his return... It definitely had turned the base back to bustle.
Truth to be said, the Secretary General had hardly seen nor spoken to Zero even after he had now got back, nor even less demanded any answers or explanations from him. The reason - she had not had time to do so. Would there be a minute or dozen given to her, she would've probably burst into his office and sorted it all out, but given the time she had at hand, she had yet to actually be able to do so. Though right now, she didn't even care that much. With or without their masked leader, the Black Knights were still there and so was her position as their third-in-command. Whether she still saw Zero worth to follow was a different matter she had yet to settle, it wasn't like she would have abandoned her duties just like that.
She had got back from the running businesses of the day only not too long ago, but long enough for a pile of dishes having made their way on to her living room table and the ashtray among them having become half filled after her return. Going through papers after papers, reports after reports and so on, she had settled to the corner of a sectional sofa beside the table. Curled up to sit on her legs, one paper at a time on her right and swinging the kiseru pipe between her fingers while taking a draught of it every once in a while, it was only natural she didn't hear the first, silent knock - especially for it to be, might one say, unexpected. Of course the Secretary General was prepared for anything to happen at whatever the time, but silent knocks at this time of the day, have to admit, weren't included to that. The louder instead, as to be expected, did reach her attention. Frowning, she put the papers down, but as she was rising from the couch, a voice and words very explanatory reached her ears from behind the door. "Oi! Yeka! Open! There is mischief afoot! I'm conscious and standing! Aid me!" The frown was gone the instant she heard the familiar voice, and soon she was there to let the technician in. Closing the door carefully behind her the Secretary General turned to look inquiringly at the other woman, an eyebrow rising in question though a tiny smile yanking the corner of her mouth. "Mischief, you say? What might that be?"

Hark! It opened! Anju grinned widely as the bleary-eyed Russian poked her head out and let the enthusiastic techie in. Sliding between Yekaterina and the door frame, she whistled under her breath and admired the mess that was the security officer's living room. Anju was no stranger to clutter but she gave her unspoken condolences to the younger woman; paperwork was the bane of all existence. It prevented proper progress and was an unfortunate necessity to life as we know it.
She spun around as Yeka closed the door and looked at her with a raised eyebrow and quirking mouth. "Mischief, you say? What might that be?" She smiled widely and clapped her hands together, rubbing them together as only a mad scientist is wont. Which is technically in character as Anju had been accused numerous times of being three degrees off center, or whatever, and she makes things that tend to develop intelligence, and she has a PhD or five. And she had coffee earlier, the kind with lots of sugar that Sakura made a point to ban from the base whenever she found some. Digression, thy name is Here.
"Well, my dearest, darlingest, devotee. There is a very very very importance date happening in a few days. Which is important. The super secret special birthday of my super secret special non-daughter and lovely Commander of He-Who-Is-A-Prick's armed forces." She started hopping; this was huge. It was Sakie's 18th, the big 1-8. She was gonna be legal, and could do all sorts of delightful things that Anju freely enjoyed but didn't do all that much anymore because Mama got that look on her face that was half-disapproving, half-'do it and you die, Anj'. And Anju wasn't young anymore, she was on the other side of thirty and that made one think. But considering this was Anju, who thought all the time, incessantly, the point was moot.
She smiled wider and grabbed Yeka's hands. "Sweetie, this is really huge. I remember my 18th birthday. I wore my best sari, and Papa got an elephant and I rode it to a pavilion where all my friends and my co-workers could interact with my family without getting kicked out for being lower class. It was excellent! My auntie Padme- you would like her, she smoked too- got drunk and did the Limbo with Craig from Accounting." She blinked. Too much sugar. Sidetracking. Birthday! "Right. So. Birthday. It will be wonderful and lively and screw the convert, we have to lay low thing we have going on, 'cause it's her birthday, and I will get her smashed and possibly laid but I won't raise my hopes on that, and It must must must be a surprise party and I need your help, 'cause it has to be a surprise." Sugar! Wonderful, lovely sugar! Bad sugar!
Anju took a deep breath, realized she had been talking without breathing, and took another. Then she sat down abruptly on the sofa arm; breathing was making her dizzy. "So. Help? I have a present I've been working on and it won't be done justice if I don't give it to her in a huge party."

Yekaterina watched the techie for a moment, letting any thoughts pass of perhaps offering her something - coffee was her own craving, for the late hour and still much work left ahead, but she let it be for now, stay at the mental level where the thought had irked her for the past hour or so. Anju had seemingly had her own (fair) share of the hot drink already.
Though it wasn't probably needed anyway, as it didn't take long for Anju to begin to provide her with an explanation of this late, yet by no means an unwelcome visit. "Well, my dearest, darlingest, devotee. There is a very very very importance date happening in a few days. Which is important. The super secret special birthday of my super secret special non-daughter and lovely Commander of He-Who-Is-A-Prick's armed forces." Yekaterina, on her way back to the couch, halted. She had had no clue. And it explained perfectly why the techie was so hyped. (Sans the supposed coffee. Though coffee made hyper, but mostly not hyped like this.) Sure the Secretary Genral was aware that her beloved Commander was still a minor - not that her age mattered the slightest bit to the older woman. She had other standards for respect than simply the years behind it. But Yekaterina had had no knowledge of when her Commander's birthday was. Now so kindly to have been informed of it, not a word to indicate that the Secretary General would have let anything like this pass without her.
Anju was right. It was huge. The big, big 18. Anju sidetracking, Yekaterina came to remember her own 18th birthday. She had got out of the orphanage, and finally got to stand on her own two feet, free to head towards her lifelong goal. Maybe simple, and nothing as spectacular as the techie's had been, but one of the greatest days in her life nonetheless. She gave out a small laughter as she let go of the techie's hands. "Haha~ I'm sure it was."
"Right. So. Birthday. It will be wonderful and lively and screw the convert, we have to lay low thing we have going on, 'cause it's her birthday, and I will get her smashed and possibly laid but I won't raise my hopes on that, and It must must must be a surprise party and I need your help, 'cause it has to be a surprise. So. Help? I have a present I've been working on and it won't be done justice if I don't give it to her in a huge party." Following Anju (finally) back to the couch, Yekaterina had yet to sit down only to be left still standing for the answer of the requested help. "You seriously don't think I'd let a good party - let alone an occasion like this - go without me? Of course you got me." She smiled, impishly. Mischief, indeed afoot - here we go. "...As long as you don't plan having elephants included. It would be quite hard to explain them plausibly to Shizuka-sama, don't you think? So. A huge party, you say? Had anything already in mind for it?"

Anju blinked hopefully up at Yeka; she was her first choice of conspirator. The woman was smart, sneaky and conniving. All attributes that were perfect for someone as off the wall and maniacal as herself. If this party was to go off without a hitch, she needed all the people she trusted as she could get.
"You seriously don't think I'd let a good party - let alone an occasion like this - go without me? Of course you got me." And Anju grinned widely. "...As long as you don't plan having elephants included. It would be quite hard to explain them plausibly to Shizuka-sama, don't you think?" And she laughed. No, elephants would be problematic. Not that she couldn't have them easily shipped or even make a automaton version (ie: Lockjaws 1 and 2) but this wasn't about elephants. This was about Hikari. "So. A huge party, you say? Had anything already in mind for it?"
Anju smiled and pulled the younger woman down next to her, rubbing her hands together in what could only be described as medicated glee. "Sweetcakes, with what I have in mind, even the mainland is gonna hear about it and glory in my mad party making skills. I've got a present, see. And it's..." She hesitated and flushed a little.
"It is - and if you repeat this to anyone, I will both deny it and make sure you never enjoy a smoke again - it's kinda, um. It's for my little girl." Anju fidgeted. "She's my little girl and I want her to have this. Okay?" She looked at the other woman, eyebrows furrowed, giving her a heartfelt expression. "Okay?" She coughed and wiped the look from her face, leaning over to whisper the plan in Yeka's ear.
(She's telling Yeka the plan, which will be grandly revealed at the actual party, which will occur in a time-skip, k?)

The pull was a sudden one, but did it matter - no. Yekaterina was all ears to Anju's direction. The techie's excitement had began to catch, and while she might not have seemed like it that clearly, the younger woman was more than in with whatever would come out of the techie's mouth. "Sweetcakes, with what I have in mind, even the mainland is gonna hear about it and glory in my mad party making skills. I've got a present, see. And it's..." She hesitated, Yekaterina waited. "It is - and if you repeat this to anyone, I will both deny it and make sure you never enjoy a smoke again - it's kinda, um. It's for my little girl. She's my little girl and I want her to have this. Okay?" Despite the hype, she was serious. Well, of course she was. Yekaterina had known her long enough to know. "Okay?" Answering her look with her own, the younger woman nodded. "Not a word will leave my lips, it's sworn." Truly, with Anju being in question, the Secretary General had no doubt she wouldn't leave her threat unfulfilled in case needed. Not that there was any chance Yekaterina would blabber under any circumstances. And, the techie leaned towards her to whisper her her plans.
What was whispered to her ear made her eyes grow wide, and as the other woman had finished, she turned to look right at her. "Whoa. Now that really is... Huge." Though a wide grin soon spread over the surprised expression of hers, and promtly she patted Anju on the back. "...Nothing less to be expected from you, though, and nothing less out dear Commander deserves." Yekaterina straightened herself, and reached for the kiseru left on the table when she had risen to open the door. "Whatever you need, I'll aid you."

"...Nothing less to be expected from you, though, and nothing less out dear Commander deserves. Whatever you need, I'll aid you."
Anju grinned and clapped her hands together. "Thank you. Now here's what we do..."
TIMESKIP!!!!!!!
T'was the month after Tuesday and all through the hanger, noise was a-making off with a bang-er. Anju was reclining in the back with a hand pressed to her forehead with a compress much in demand. The scheme she and Yeka had carefully constucted was made much smoother with the Brit princess now happily unabducted. But now with Knights running to and fro, our poor little tekkie had no where to go, for the food was prepared and the table arranged, and no fewer people then usual thought her deranged.
Or, in layman's terms, the big stuff was over and now she was mainlining asprin. It had been a while but for Sakura, this fricking party had better the biggest thing to hit the East since the fricking Karma Sutra, or Anju was going to cut a bitch. And it had taken all of Anju's skills as a devious and sneaky mastermind to keep Sakura in the dark. Making a person whose main employment expertise involved surveillance and vigilance was like huging an irritated porcupine without getting injured. Difficult and uncomfortable. But somehow, her extra paranoia was explained away by the numbskull who was in charge of buying the gorceries for the base accidentally buying non-decalf coffee, which might have actually been the truth.
God, where was fresh ice when you needed it? People were filing in, with and without presents that her charge would or wouldn't like and chatting amonst themselves and her present was chilling in the back and she was starting to think maybe spiking Sakura's tea with sedatives was a bad idea because what if she overdosed? What if she was laying in her stupid office - wait, Anju had stolen the keys for that place a week ago and the girl had spent days trying to find people who could soder the door open and figure out who'd taken them in the first place, although she's pretty sure Sakura had pegged her already - bedroom on the floor with her tongue hanging out of her mouth after binging on too much Oolong? Good God, her baby could be dying right now, her face grey and gross and Anju was just sitting here popping aspirins like tic-tacs!
She cried and rolled over and hoped Yeka would make sure everyone was in place and send someone to tell her when Sakura was coming because Anju was having a minor breakdown and she was going to kill the fucker who'd forgot what non-decaf did to her!

Tic. Toc. Tic. Toc. A pen tapped the wooden surface of the desk in time to clock’s ticking. It was then gently placed down.
“*Siiiighhhh*” The chair was pushed back so that it was balancing on its hind corners. The figure in the seat stretched widely, wrists cracking.
Sakura stared up at the ceiling of her room, and she vaguely wondered if that mark in the far left corner had always been there. She closed her eyes as she leaned her chair back into proper position. They opened to see the unfinished report lying in front of her. The eyes closed again.
Despite Anju telling her that she ought to take the evening off, and even going as far as to actually steal the key to her office in an attempt to make her do as instructed, Sakura still couldn’t bring herself to obey the woman’s orders. She just simply couldn’t! There was too much to do, for one thing the Black Knights had recently lost a very important hostage. The Commander’s eyes narrowed in displeasure. She blamed her own foolishness for that. She should’ve put the girl under tighter security…but she didn’t. She was fooled by that lax, carefree nature. Her tongue clicked in annoyance. Tricked again, wasn’t she?
Sighing once more, Sakura stared at the folder in front of her. She was lucky she had forgotten to bring this folder back to her office. Gave her something to do, at least. Picking up the pen once more, Sakura twirled it in her fingers as she stared at the paper, words not really sinking in. She shook her head, an aggravated growl escaping her throat. Come on, Sakura! Focus! This isn’t the time to be staring off into space! “But…” Sakura turned her head to the window. It was far late in the evening. Even the moon had gone to bed. “Why do I feel like I’m forgetting something?” She mumbled to herself as she bit her pen in thought. This was annoying her. There was something that she was forgetting and it was bugging her to no end, thus not allowing her to work in peace. “But what? Status report? Handed that in. Round schedules? Fixed that. Tea supply? Fully stocked. Her eyes narrowed in aggravation. This was seriously starting to piss her off. “If only I had my planner…” Her little black book. Her bible. Her life in paper format. Everything and anything that was remotely important (even those that really weren’t, but there for the hell of it) was written in that book. And that book was in her office. To which she had no key. Because a certain coffee-loving techie snagged it. ‘Note to self no 967: never ever let an innocent-smiling Anju-san walk by unchecked.”
She swore the woman was a professional pickpocketer. All she did was walk by the Commander, without so much of a brush of the shoulder, and somehow managed to get hold of her office key. Sure she could understand if Anju had gotten all of Sakura’s keys, as they were usually clipped to her back pocket. But no… she just got that one key. In retrospect, it took talent. An annoying talent for Sakura, but a talent nonetheless.
Running a hand through her hair, another annoyed grumble saying hello, Sakura placed her pen back down. No good. She couldn’t focus.
Knock. Knock. “Um…Commander?” “Who is it at this time of night?” Sakura mumbled to herself as she left her room and entered the main living room of the flat she and Anju shared. Opening the door, Sakura raised an eyebrow at the young soldier standing in front of her. She was holding a steaming mug of tea. Her tea. Her eyes narrowed slightly. “What is this?” “It’s tea, Ma’am…Saravati-sama had me send this up for you. She said it was just to make sure- The girl’s eyes widened to the size of saucers and quickly snapped her mouth shut. Sakura’s eyes narrowed further. “Make sure of what?” The mug began to shake in the girl’s hand. “T-To make sure you have a peaceful sleep!” The girl confessed, her face resembling that of the Corpse’s bride. Sakura leaned back, a surprised look on her face. “Is that so? Why do you look like you just kicked a puppy?” The girl looked at Sakura with a look of complete disbelief. “B-But…” “Anju-san knows tea calms me down the best. That’s why she had a cup sent for me.” “N-No, I mean- “Oyasumi, Sakamoto.” And with that, Sakura accepted the mug and closed the door quietly.
Her back against the door, a soft smile crept on Sakura’s face. That Anju…always thinking of her, wasn’t she? “Arigato…Anju-san.” Sakura whispered before heading back to her room, closing the door with a silent click
“Now then. Back to work.” She would force herself to not waste anymore time trying to remember something she couldn’t. She took a sip of her tea, the aroma bringing a smile instantly to her face. Lifting the pen for a third time, Sakura blinked twice to herself. Woah, vision fading on her for a moment there. She blinked blearily at the paper, as words began to fuse together. “What the…” Sakura pinched the bridge of her nose. Why was she suddenly feeling incredibly sleepy? She didn’t think she was this drained out. Bleary eyes rolled over to the still steaming mug.
“T-To make sure you have a peaceful sleep!” Her eyes widened slightly in realization.
Of course. How could she be so…stupid?
“Very…mean …Anju-san….” Sakura mumbled out before her body gave in and slumped over her desk, her head resting on her arms. The young Commander was so deep in sleep that she did not notice the figure enter her room.
Tic. Toc. Tic. Toc
OOC: It's been agreed that Lucien will be the one to snag Sakura and force her to come to this shebang. So the person entering the room is (oviously) residential French Playboy ^.^

Vierre’s head appeared from the doorway. His eyes shifted quickly across the hangar before he frowned and sighed. The final preparations for the party were being wrapped up. He disappeared and it wasn’t for another series of long seconds before he reluctantly re-appeared and entered the open space. He shook his head, looking defeated. “Oh this isn’t right. This won’t do at all.” he muttered out loud. The Black Knights within earshot, finalizing the last second details of the party looked up nervously, assuming they had done something wrong or in some other way displeased the First Division Captain.
Vierre crossed his arms and looked about. He locked his eyes on the nearest soldier, a young man who was carrying a neatly arranged tray of delectable appetizers destined for the food table. “Tell me soldier,” he demanded of the boy who may or may not have trembled slightly. “How is it possible to be fashionably late to a party if one shows up before the guest of honour? Tch.”
“S-sir? I… I don’t know, sir.”
Vierre slapped his hand hard onto the back of the boy’s shoulder and held on to it. “Exactly! It can’t be done! And that, at this very moment, is a terrible and regrettable shame.” With his free hand, Vierre snapped up one of the miniature appetizers and tossed it swiftly into his mouth. He chewed thoughtfully than swallowed the morsel. “Very good. Compliments and all that to whoever should be receiving them, eh?” He patted the boy one last time on the back of the shoulder and let him go to finish his work.
Spotting the Chief of Science reclined near the back, the Black Knight captain made his way over. “You,” he began to state. “Look like you’ve had better days.” Vierre leaned casually against the wall beside Anju and crossed his arms. “So, you know the Commander pretty well, yeah? I could use a little help.” He lowered his voice. “Any suggestions on a good birthday present? I’m somewhat on the unprepared side, and I admit I have a bit to make up for. Between you and me, I may be responsible for a mysterious decrease in her Pocky supplies.” He held an index finger up to his lips. If and when Sakura discovered he had re-directed a number of boxes to the possession of a certain Britannian princess there would be hell to pay. Fortunately, subordinate officer Parker had been foolish enough to drink her tea in front of her, which drew much of the Commander’s ire first.

Zane sat atop the shoulder of his Knightmare Frame. In his hand was a datapad that he was busily reading. "So you're gonna be a little unruly because of your weight?" he asked the machine. It wasn't going to answer, of course, but it helped Zane take better care of his machine to think of it as a living being. He patted the Knightmare with his free hand. "That's okay, girl. We'll get it worked out and be running like a champion in no time." He tore his gaze away from the datapad and opened the cockpit hatch. He grimaced when the seat came into view.
It was the only thing about the Gekka design that he disliked. He had been trained in the standard seating configuration of the Britannian Empire and, after having spent so long sitting upright, the hunched-over posture of the Gekka looked incredibly uncomfortable. With a shrug, Zane decided that he would try it anyway. He stood and was in the process of clambering into the cockpit when his phone started making a ruckus.
He took the device out of his pocket and inspected the screen. It was an alarm that he had set a few nights ago. "Well, girly," he said to the Gekka as he closed the cockpit, "Looks like we'll have to pick this up later." He climbed down and made his way to his quarters. Once there he grabbed a small, rectangular parcel wrapped in plain brown paper. With the pickup completed, he left for the main hangar.
When he arrived, he made his way to the back, greeting any other Black Knights that he recognized on his way. Once he arrived, he was surprised to see Captain DeMara. "Well this is quite a surprise, Captain. You feeling sick or something?" He grinned and looked at the Chief of Science. "Ma'am, it's good to see you again." He raised the package in his hand. "Where should I put this?"

All was nearly set. Almost ready. People still bustled around to add the final touches on everything, while more of them had began to simply gather around the hall, the hurry in the atmosphere slowly beginning to change into anticipation. The presents where being gathered at the back of the hall on a couple of tables - hers being among them, too, so nothing to worry about that. Yekaterina's choice for it was predictable, perhaps, but it was the best she had in her stock. Tea, of course - but a rare sort of Russian tea, actually grown inside the very borders of her motherland, thus being extraordinary and distinguished in taste like no other. What better could she have had to offer to her beloved Commander, to whom tea was known to be the second necessity to live after breathing?
The young soldier sent to take the tea to Shizuka-sama caught her attention for the moment, as she returned to report the mission complete. Now the only things missing were the birthday girl - and the one who was supposed to fetch her.
Where the hell was Darcy??
The Secretary General took a long draught of her kiseru, leaning against the wall at the nearest outdoor entrance leading to the said hangar. Finally, time for a quick break before the festivities. After all the yelling, rushing around, keeping things and people in order and everything of it she did deserve this. The soft flavor in her mouth, and soon the soothing feeling spreading through her, beginning to relieve the ever stinging headache. The woman sighed deep in pleasure and blew out the smoke, only to take another draught soon after. Decaf coffee hadn't exactly made Yeka's life easier either, but even more was she in need of a break for smoke. Stressing over the party - stressing over anything for that matter - definitely did not decrease her need for it, far from it. It had taken all her willpower to endure it - anything, almost anything for the sake of this party to be a success - but now, when the things finally had began to settle down, she had taken the opportunity. Definitely the better option for anyone to face her afterwards - almost. About a certain French playboy she wasn't that sure even after the break.
She had hardly seen him during the day - partially, of course, due to her own hurry - but it was almost time for him to bring Shizuka-sama to the spot, and the man hadn't even informed them if he was on his way or not. She definitely hoped he was. Personally, she had nothing against the said Frenchman, but if he was going to ruin their Commanders birthday... Though she was sure that Darcy knew better than not to. Considering his own affection towards her, it was even more highly unlikely he would. But it would have been very nice - and considerably less irksome - to know where exactly he was going.
Well, time for her to hurry back. Finishing the pipeful of hers, she knocked the ashes out against the wall and headed back in. Reaching the hangar, she was pleased to make a confirming walk around the space to see that the preparations, everything there was ready. Which was great - only one thing to worry now. Soon Yekaterina spotted Anju not too far to the direction she had been walking, though only to see she didn't seem any more relaxed than she was. Well, at least she could now tell her that everything else was ready... Upon reaching the techie, though, Yekaterina was to notice that Anju was now accompanied by the First Division Captain along one of the men from his division. Either way, she accompanied them, greeting the men with a word and a nod before turning towards the other woman. "Anju-san. Everything's ready and all set as far as I have observed, and the tea girl has delivered the tea to Shizuka-sama." Telling Anju this, she then frowned, disgruntled. "Only Darcy is missing."
