“Oh, is that so? That’s good to know. I happen to really enjoy fireworks. Like brilliant illuminated paints awash across a still night canvas,” replied the First Division Captain. “It sounds like you may be as... hmm shall we say… enthusiastic as me. Shizuka, I believe the paper pushers you have may have created something rather dangerous here. And you are its witness.” The Captain was grinning and something told Zane that there were fun times ahead.
“Girl, eh? Does she have a name? I hope you treat her well. Nothing quite so fierce as a spurned lady." Captain Vierre's words rang true. Zane, however, had yet to give his Gekka a test drive; he didn't know the Knightmare's personality at all. In his experience, every Knightmare behaved differently regardless of the conditions under which they were created. "I’m sure the Commander can attest to that, yes?”
"I haven't even had a chance to meet her yet. I have to get a feel for her before she can be named," he said, wondering just how the Knightmare would react to being loaded down with his rather weighty arsenal.
Zane listened while the Commander and Vierre spoke about two people that he likely hadn't had a chance to meet. The mention of red hair made him think of the long-haired foreigner from the mess hall several nights ago. Do the Black Knights even have any members from the EU?[/i] he thought, trying to fit everything together. Unfortunately, he had yet to learn enough about his allies' personnel to be able to make a proper assessment. Figuring it out could wait until later.
He was still considering the situation when a man that he didn't recognize strolled up to the group and started talking to the Commander. His voice carried a French accent. That answers that,[/i] a voice in his head told him simply.
There was more talk of the Pandava and Zane felt his excitement at the prospect of a new Frame for the Britannian military to smash themselves against rising again, but mixed with a fair amount of unease. "Excuse me if I'm being impertinent," he said in an apologetic tone, looking at the Commander. "But perhaps we should continue this conversation away from civilians..." He really wasn't trying to be impolite or hurry people along, but rather trying to keep classified information just that: secret. Sure the people around them appeared to be united wholly with the Black Knights, but things like money had a funny way of bending people's motives and ethics. You never could know where a person's loyalties truly lay until you got to know them - and even then, it was conjecture at best.

A kidnapped princess. The king of the hill returned. And a French Epee running free around the base. Even less was enough to keep also the Secretary General more than busy, but felt like the island base was now busier than ever. Having ran from places to another ones the whole morning, Yekaterina was more than glad to get deep, unhurried breath of some sea air - though maybe an essence of koiki added to it but nonetheless - when she finally had the time to rise from the depths of the underground maze to face the bright day above the sea level.
And bright it indeed was, as seemed also be the people despite of whatever might have happened next. It made also the Secretary General smile slightly. Moments like these, everyone just concentrating to their doings and doing it well regardless of if they'd be drawn into an open war again the next moment for all they knew, were rare. Somehow - though be the weather whatever and the mood whichever they'd still work - moments like these made her feel like there was still something - well, might have been a bit too strong to describe it 'good' in Yekaterina's opinion - left in the world. But at least something was under way - under way in pursuit to get freed of some certain over-dominant nation's clutch. Yekaterina wasn't one to like war, but neither was she one to answer bombs with roses.
Reaching for the insides of the outer layer of her kimono - loosely tied, her casual wear for almost any occasion which did not include leaving the base - she pulled out a folded piece of paper, now folding it open to see where she should have been heading out next. Though seeing that the rest of the checklist consisted mainly of paperwork, she sighed. The next thing actually needing for her to be there wasn't that tied to any certain set time, but after the whole morning of dealing personally with a variety of businesses wasn't exactly something which after she would have wanted to just go and bury herself in a pile of documents. Though how devoted or how hardworking in her quest to bring calamity crawling up Britannia's butt, even she couldn't just go, go ang go on at it for 24/7. So, talk about a perfect opportunity for a break, eh? At any rate it had been far too long of her last cup of tea, anyway.
She had been peacefully walking all along, quite much headed to her usual tea store as she had somewhat ran out of the kind she fancied at the moment. But before she could reach the store, something else emerged to her vicinity to distract her from her going. Her eyes narrowed a bit. французский чувак.
Well, if others were more or less happy about the Épee's presence amongst the Black Knights - of those who knew - Yekaterina was the least. It was nothing unexpected - seeing as she liked Europeans almost as much as Britannians with few exceptions - but seeing him out there just like that wasn't exactly doing any good to the Secretary General's even good a mood. To her, Europeans were pretty much as much of an enemy as were anyone siding with stinking Brits, though EU people at least had the option 'until proven otherwise'. He had yet to prove so. The Secretary General's smile faded, but not many steps after seeing the French boy she did get also those he was apparently accompanying to her sight. Her Commander, and DeMara, at least. She had got close enough to hear the word 'tea' mentioned, and the Commander was carrying quite a lot of it for the moment...
Talk about a timing.
Just as she was about to reach them, the man before her spoke. "But perhaps we should continue this conversation away from civilians..." Oh? Another new recruit? Sounded like he wanted to continue the conversation whatever it was somewhere else. Carefulness? Regardless of the Épee, Yekaterina now let a smile, perhaps some hints of playfulness in it, to form on her lips. Good to find such men every once in a while. "Oh, I do hope you don't mean by-passers like me..." She broke in to their company, her words spoken quite close to the ear of the one yet unknown to her - softly, not too loud. Though the next moment Yekaterina had already moved on, caught up to the side of Sakura to give her Commander the respectful nod as a greeting. "Been short of tea, Shizuka-sama?"

“I beg your pardon, DeMara, but perhaps you are mistaken. When I said ‘would either one of you two care for any,’ I did not mean to give you the idea that you had a say in the matter.”
Vierre blinked, a response caught in his throat. This wasn’t the answer he was expecting from the Commander. Especially considering that he had only a few minutes ago insinuated that he may have had something to do with her sudden lack of resources in all things tea. “What? No, but I… uh… er…” His protest jammed with broken, fragmented words, while Sakura crossed her arms and continued to speak.
“Unless, of course, you are questioning my judgment in tea partners?”
“Ah… no, of course not. I… I certainly do not question that…”
Vierre was interrupted again as the French Epeé suddenly appeared, as if he had the uncanny sense that someone was talking about him. It was the Captain’s turn to cross his arms, as Sakura grimaced with her back to Tazune. He eyed the French man suspiciously, looking him directly in the eyes, and only wavering slightly when he caught in his peripheral vision, the warning glance from Sakura regarding the invitation for tea.
"Excuse me if I'm being impertinent, but perhaps we should continue this conversation away from civilians..."
Vierre chuckled quietly. It seemed the newest addition to his First Division roster had a good and sensible head on his shoulder. He was honest and straight to the point with an ever-present focus on the “job”. This was good, and Vierre could appreciate it. And good for Zane as well, as Vierre would be the first to admit that he did not tolerate inefficiency and a lackadaisical work ethic from the men and women under his command.
"Been short of tea, Shizuka-sama?"
And now Vierre felt conspicuous. A few people chatting on the street was one matter. Something of that caliber was casual and didn't draw the eye. However an expanded group of five encircled at the side of the road was much more blatant. Nonetheless he nodded respectfully at the Secretary General. “Indeed it seems the Commander was having a difficult time finding some tea today. Very unfortunate really. Though now she’s offering it all away,” he grinned at the Commander. “Shizuka, perhaps no grievous harm would come to me if I accept your invitation at another time? A rain check maybe? It is becoming a little crowded here, and I suppose there is work I should be doing as well.” The captain of the First Division gestured towards his on-duty uniform and shrugged.
