Kevin was back on the island. He was driving the best he could. He made it next to the front door and parked the best could. However, he hit a wall making him hit his head and making that bleed. It was not like he bleeded enough today. His whole car had blood all over it from his foot. But now his head too.
He came out of the car and went throgh the front door. People started to look at him however, all he could do was walk towards the nursing ward. He took another step and fell down. He would need someone to take him into the nursing ward and he would need serious attention. Blood was leaking everywhere and he couldn't do anything but wait for someone to help him.

The sounds of someone blowing air. Sip A content sigh. Sakura closed her eyes as she leaned back in her chair, teacup in hand. Now this was a day off. Unable to keep the pleasant smile off her face, Sakura stared out at the scenery in front of her.
Peaceful. Simply peaceful. That was the only word that came to Sakura’s mind when she thought of the current situation. Which was odd, to say the least. Usually Sakura classified her days as something along the lines of ‘shitacular’ and ‘perfectly peachy-heavy sarcastic version.’ Hardly did the Commander ever say her day was ‘peaceful.’ But here she was, sitting outside up in a tree, teacup in hand…peaceful. ‘Maybe Anju-san was right…it’s nice to relax once in a while…’ Sakura smiled as she took another sip. She had to admit, she owed this particular moment to the crazy Indian techie. For it was only due to the woman stealing the keys to Sakura’s office and then proceeding to threaten to feed them to her baby Lockjaw should Sakura not take a day off that she found herself out here. Sakura chuckled slightly to herself. That Anju…had a way with words. “Hope she’s not overworking herself, either…” Sakura mumbled to herself. The techie recently had been barricaded in the confines of her office, armed with wrench and blueprints. But the woman always looked so carefree, it was hard to tell if whether or not the woman was working herself to death building Knightmare Frames or just having a field day building toilet bombs.
Sakura paused mid-sip. How were those coming along, anyways? With Zero suddenly coming back, she was more than curious to see the end result of months of pent up fury. After all, Indian techies were most scary when angered. Sakura had learned that the hard way.
So here she was. Sitting up in a tree, completely work free for the day. Sakura sighed. Felt weird. Felt wrong. Felt like someone should be running up to her…
“COMMANDER!” …about to inform her of some kind of emergency…
“COMMANDER, WE HAVE AN EMERGENCY!”....causing her to internally panic…
Sakura whirled her head downwards to see two members of the Black Knights run towards her, a look of pure panic on her face. The happy feeling was gone, as was her smile. Only one thought went through the redhead’s mind: ‘…fuck.’
Settling down her teacup, Sakura raised an eyebrow at the two soliders. “What blew up this time?” The men stopped, wheezing for breath.
“N-Nothing blew up but- “Well, something kinda did but- “More like it collided into a brick wall- “Same difference when you think about- “WILL YOU SHUT UP ALREADY!” Both men stood up straight at attention. One did not have to look closely to see the flames of PMS surrounding Sakura. Eye twitching, Sakura cracked her knuckles. “Now. Will one of you explain to me why the hell you are here, screaming bloody Mary?” The two men gulped. “W-Well Commander- “Thing is- “I said one of you. Thank you, Suzuki.” she gave the man the look that dared him to open his mouth again. He got the message.
The first man cleared his throat nervously before taking a step forward. “U-Um, well Commander…what happened was…uh…well, it’s Kevin, Ma’am. He’s uh…been involved in an accident.” Sakura raised an eyebrow. “Parker, huh? Ok…your point?” The man glanced nervously to the side. “Well he’s been hurt really badly, y’see- “Welcome to war, Yamamato. We should expect casualties.” Sakura leaned back against the tree trunk. Was that all? A minor casualty happens and all of a sudden all hell breaks loose? Sheesh…maybe Sakura was becoming too soft on the other members…they were loosing any spine they had. It wasn’t like the man wasn’t receiving treatment or anythi- “Thing is…he kinda collapsed en route to the emergency room.” Sakura glanced back down at the man, her eyes narrowed in suspicion. “Please tell me one of you birdballs had enough common sense to help him.”
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ Sakura bolted down the hall, muttering curses all the way. “Those idiots….stupid little dumbfucks…the mentality of some people…I swear when I get my hands on them…why am I surrounded by-MOVE IT-such stupidity, I swear…brain the size of-EXCUSE ME- a pea…bloody Emperor probably has more brain capacity…” Sakura turned a sharp left and burst through the double doors that led to the Black Knights Infirmary. Her eyes scanned the various beds, hoping that perhaps someone had brought Kevin in already. Her hopes were dashed. “Typical.”
Walking across the room, Sakura continued to look for Kevin. Hey, how far could the man get? He was wounded, wasn’t he? Wasn’t likely that he would get very far. “Oy, Parker? Parker? Where the hell are you? Park- Sakura stopped as she opened the door that led to the main hallway. Her eyes fell on the body lying a few feet away from her, right by the entrance. Her eyes widened slightly. “Parker?!” She ran over and knelt down by the blonde. Aie. ‘Wounded’ was an understatement. “What the hell happened to you, Parker?” she whispered as she held his head up in her lap. She paused when she felt something wet and sticky. Slowly removing her hand from the back of his head, Sakura’s frown deepened when she saw what was on it. Blood. Looking back down at the unconscious man before her and then back to her hand, Sakura cursed inwardly before standing up, supporting Kevin’s body as she did so. “Alright…lets get you to a room…” she muttered as she half dragged half carried Kevin’s body to the nearest available room.
Plopping the man down as graciously as she could, Sakura then searched the room for anything she could use to stop the blood flow. Fortunately she found what she needed and was able to clog the wounds. But only just. Man still needed professional help. Flashing one last worried look at Kevin, Sakura whispered a “Hang on Parker…” before bolting out in search of a doctor. Heaven knew the man needed one.

Kevin layed there his eyes closing slowly and slowly. He knew he was going to die. He lost about 5 gallons of bloods on the way here and lost about 6 gallons just on the floor. He could hear a voice calling him however, it was faint. Then the voices got louder and louder. It was a voice of a woman and not only just an ordinary woman but Sakura Shizuka. Thier Commander-In-Chief. She blew through the door and saw him on the floor. She came running to him and put his head on her lap. How touching. He was on his 12th gallon of blood lost and all she did was put his head on her lap. Though it felt relaxing, he was stilling feeling more pain than any love. Then his eyes closed and he could feel being dragged and carried and then again on a cold floor.
Now that he was on his 13th gallon of blood he felt so empty and could see the light."I can see the light now and I can't stop getting closer to it"he mummered and then felt his blood starting to stop pouring out. He felt much more relaxed now however, it would last for a long time. The thing that had stopped his blood from pouring out started to lag and he could feel the cold blood on his cold and numb body. Then he heard Sakura say hang on to him and heard her foot steps leaving him. Now he could nor hear or see anymore. His head slumped a bit more and he left the room and drifted somewhere else.

Thick, streaming streaks of blood trailing down the hallway were rarely a good sign. In fact, Vierre was willing to go as far as to say that they were never a good sign. It could be worse though. It could’ve been his blood. Holding the first aid kit he had retrieved upon finding the blood, he scowled as he lifted a boot and examined it. He noticed the unpleasant wet and darkened stain affixed to the thick tread pattern of his sole. Looking down at the floor behind him, he found the same tread pattern marred into the red trail. With a large deliberate step over the blood, Vierre followed the track down the hall, moving with his back close up against the wall to avoid ruining his boots any further.
The trail didn’t travel on too far, evidently taking a turn into one of the nearest rooms. Vierre would have preferred to see the path lead to an actual medical room, but he had to accept that emergencies were rarely convenient. Straight ahead, he could hear footsteps pounding away quickly, growing faint and distant. He could also see another set of footprints tracking blood away from the room, leading to a sprinting Sakura.
“Shizuka? Commander? Is that y-?” The Commander-in-Chief urgently disappeared around the next corner. Vierre could not tell if she heard him at all. He sighed. “Oh for the love of…”
Vierre entered the room to find Kevin Parker, still slowly bleeding out onto the cold floor. The patch job that he assumed Sakura had performed was doing what it needed to, but it was little more than a temporary fix. The man needed medical attention, and it was safe to say that this explained Sakura’s apparent rush.
“I can see the light now and I can’t stop getting closer to it,” murmured Kevin, his voice faint and his focus vague.
“Hey!” Vierre announced immediately, speaking loudly to try and jar Kevin’s attention, hoping to yank his senses back far enough for him to concentrate. He gave the other man a strong abrupt nudge. “Hey. Shut up. Flies and mosquitoes are irresistibly attracted to light. I’m afraid I have little choice but to faithfully believe that you have more sense than that, even if just a bit. Now, show me your strength. Fight.” This compassionate display of impeccable bedside manners was just one of the many reasons why Vierre was overjoyed to have Okure train the medics of the First Division.
Vierre set the first aid kit on a table and popped it open with a loud click. Pulling out a pair of disposable gloves, he snapped them on. Next he retrieved a small vial and a syringe. The bleeding man was going into shock. “Come on now. A little cooperation wouldn’t kill you… probably do quite the opposite in fact. Put some direct pressure on that leg." Vierre handed Kevin a clean gauze pad and guided his hand to clamp down over the leg wound. "Bah… have you no ambitions? Do you want to die bleeding sadly in this room? Tsk… I can think of much better ways to meet an end.”
“Snap out of it and apply pressure. Damn it I have more important things to do.” Vierre drew the liquid up into the syringe and took a close look at it at eye level. It would help to re-balance Kevin's fluids. Unfortunately, it was another temporary course of action, but until Kevin could be hooked up to a proper IV line it would have to do. “I won’t tell you that this won’t hurt, because... well… it will.” With that, Vierre unceremoniously jabbed the needle into the first vein he could find.

Kevin was losing hope when he heard another voice. He was told to put pressure on his leg and so he did his best. He was very weak right now and the freezing floor was getting to him."A blanke or something warm would be nice"he said as he felt the cold getting to him. He felt so weak. Then he felt a very painful sting in his arm and into his vein and he felt a pain unlike another."If I don't get something to warm up with, me losing blood won't be the only thing to worry about!"he said as he started to open his eyes and saw some blood going into him. Next he looked around and saw a bed with a blanket and with all of his might got up and started to walk to hit. However, half way to there, he felt a pain shoot up his leg and fell on his knees straight on. So close but so far away.

“Where the fuck are the doctors?!” Sakura growled as she continued to bolt down the hall, her eyes flashing from door to door, in hopes of finding one person in a white coat. Seriously. This was getting to be ridiculous. This was a hospital for crying out loud! You would think there would be at least one freaking doctor, no? But of course not…of course on the one day when there was an actual emergency, all the medics decide to go play hide and seek. Was enough for her to seriously consider re-staffing the entire medics division. “Bloody idiots…” she muttered under her breath as she turned a corner. She knew the job she had done wasn’t going to last. She was good at first aid, as was any trained solider, but with the time and equipment she had been given, what she had done would only last, at best, 20 minutes. After that it would be back to bleeding. How long had Kevin been lying down there anyways? Once again, she cursed the stupidity of those who worked here. Honestly, you see a man lying down in a pool of blood and what to you do? You leave him there and run off to tell her that oh, there’s a man lying in a pool of blood, possibly close to dying. Thought you should know. Idiots…
Continuing her sprint, a flash of white caught the corner of her eye. Turning her head to the left, Sakura saw a young doctor sitting down in one of the lounges, sipping a cup of coffee, watching some random game on the television. Her eyes narrowed. Spinning on her heel, Sakura bolted into the room and grabbed the man roughly by the collar, hoisting him out of his chair, causing him to drop his cup in shock. “O-Oy! What are y- The look Sakura gave him made him snap his mouth shut. “You. Come. Now.” she hissed as she dragged him out of the room, her feet taking her as fast as they would. The doctor struggled to keep up, still slightly fazed by her suddenness. “But Commander…I’m on my break and- Sakura turned to face him, while still running, and snarled. “’Break?’ You’re on your break? I’ve got a man possibly on his deathbed and you’re worried about your break!?” The man gulped. “W-Well, it’s just I’ve been working since 5 AM and- “Pulling an all nighter is part of your job description. Either suck it up or I’ll find someone to replace you.” She threatened, giving the man a ‘I dare you to object’ glare. The doctor knew better than to object any further.
Running back to the room where she had left Kevin, Sakura roughly shoved the doctor in before following him in. “There’s your patient. Get to work.” “U-Um...but Commander- “Did you not hear me? I believe I gave you an order, doctor. Now before I have your license taken away- “No, it’s not that…it’s just…” Sakura frowned. “Nani?” She craned her neck behind the doctor’s form to see Vierre standing over Kevin, complete with latex gloves…injecting him. She blinked twice. Vierre was…a trained medic? Since when? Her eyebrows shot up in approval. Nice. She turned to look at the doctor. The man looked speechless. Apparently Vierre had done a pretty good job. She mentally applauded him. “Well, quit gawking. Get a move on it.” She said, snapping her fingers in front of the man’s face. He snapped out of his revere and mumbled something about going to fetch some more equipment and an IV for Kevin. Sakura nodded to him and watched him leave, still in a somewhat shocked state. Smirking, she turned her attention back to Kevin. “Didn’t know you were good with needles.” Her eyes rolled over to Vierre and a slight smile curved up her mouth. “Remind me to give you a raise.” “If I don't get something to warm up with, me losing blood won't be the only thing to worry about!” Sakura’s eyes flashed back to see Kevin struggle to get up and head towards the bed. “Oy! What are y-
THUD And he falls over. Sakura sighed and walked over to Kevin, muttering to herself all the way. Slinging one of Kevin’s arms around her shoulder, Sakura hoisted the wounded man back to him feet. “Baka…c’mon…up and over…” she muttered as she half carried half dragged him to the bed and plopped him down on the mattress. Placing the blanket over him, she gave him a crooked smile. “Doctor will be back in a sec, ok? So until then, avoid any lights or any voices telling you to come over. And that’s an order.” She turned back to Vierre and gave the man a tired smile.
“Thank you DeMara…odds are you just saved Parker’s life.”

Vierre pushed the hypodermic needle into Kevin, depressing the plunger slowly. The fluid resisted, as it strained through the fine length of metal protruding from the Black Knight subordinate. Kevin, in his delirious state, had mistaken the liquid for blood. Blood transfusions simply did not work that way, not to mention that his simple field first aid kit was in no way equipped to do something of that nature. Instead, Vierre had administered a shot designed to simply restore the circulating volume within the injured man. A proper transfusion of blood would still be required judging by the horrid crimson mess throughout the building leading to this room. A commotion could be heard entering the room behind him, but he didn’t need to look back. It was quite obvious that Sakura had managed to hunt down one of the facility doctors, who now had the misfortune of receiving the exasperated ire of the Commander-in-Chief. With the syringe now empty and the injection complete, Vierre yanked the needle out brusquely and stepped away from Kevin. He turned his head to look at Sakura. A grim expression painted his face, which was completely atypical for him. However, it was gone mere seconds later, replaced by his usual untroubled smirk.
“Didn’t know you were good with needles.” Her eyes rolled over to Vierre and a slight smile curved up her mouth. “Remind me to give you a raise.”
Vierre let out a laugh, powerful and oddly laced with a strange bravado, made even more awkward by the fact that Kevin was still crumpled and bloody on the floor. “Me? Good with needles? Once this man stops dying, I’m sure he will disagree. Vehemently disagree probably. And he’ll have all manners of coloured bruises to prove it. His arm will be a veritable artistic masterpiece of modern abstract. No, I’m afraid all I could offer was some knowledge of field medicine,” he said with a shrug and a grin. Vierre was definitely not a trained medic, but he paid careful attention in training courses on field medicine techniques while in the Britannian military. The goal was to simply know enough to survive, and often they weren’t the most pleasant of treatments. “You are, of course, still perfectly welcome to give me that raise. One can never have too many credits to be irresponsible with, ne?” He peeled his gloves off and tossed them into the trash.
“If I don't get something to warm up with, me losing blood won't be the only thing to worry about!” Kevin made a feeble attempt to stand and walk, resulting in his quick re-introduction to the floor. Not the wisest of moves. Vierre put a palm up to his face and sighed.
Despite her usual no-nonsense attitude, Vierre was surprised to see Sakura helping Kevin into bed and speaking to him in an almost motherly way. Who’d have thought that between the two of them, she would be the one with the good bedside manners.
“Thank you DeMara…odds are you just saved Parker’s life.”
“No, no… There is no need to thank me. It remains up to him,” replied Vierre, waving his hands at Kevin. “Dying is easy. Proving the value of life before you get to that point, that’s the challenge set forth for us.”
Vierre crossed his arms and peered at Kevin skeptically. “A more vital question for now though… What happened to him?” He looked over to Sakura, though he knew she would probably not have an answer for him. If they were lucky, Kevin would be calm enough soon to answer the question himself. “I don’t believe there are any units currently approved for combat engagement, unless you know differently Commander?”

The warm blanket made Kevin feel so good he couldn't stop his smile from coming out."Thanks Sakura"he said to her as she started talking to him again."Alright I won't follow the light or follow any voices"said Kevin. Kevin then felt the need of blood very badly. He could see that the bed now too was getting slumped with blood.
Then Vierre asked how he got injured however, he only knew the answer to that. He then opened his eyes and started to blink."What happened? I know what happened"he said feeling the bed getting damper with blood."I was in Narita...Training...Saw someone...He started a fight...Shot me a few times...Shot some daggers at me too..."he said as he started gasping for breath."Then...I ran to my car...He shot me in my leg...I got in car and got away...Crashed outside...Head busted open..."he said as he started to gasp for more air."I tried my best not to start the fight...But he got me mad...Got me angry...Got me pissed...The fight was long...I didn't even want to fight...He started it..."he said as he then went unconcous.

"Thanks Sakura" Cue eyebrow twitch. “It’s Shizuka…” Sakura bit out. No, relax…the man is wounded…can’t go beating up a dead pony now can you? Forcing herself to brush off the use of her first name, Sakura smiled stiffly at Kevin. “No need for thanks…just shut up and try to get better.” “What happened to him?” “Hm?” Sakura turned her head back to Vierre. “Oh, him?” Sakura glanced back at Kevin’s (still) bleeding form ‘How much can one bleed, anyways…’, before looking back at Vierre. “I don’t believe there are any units currently approved for combat engagement, unless you know differently Commander?” Sakura shook her head. “Haven’t the foggiest. I was back at Base when two idiots came to me, saying that they Kevin lying in a pool of blood. Apparently they found it more prudent to inform me than to get him aid.” She shrugged lightly, her arms folded across her chest, a slight aura of peeve surrounding her. Ah yes. She had almost forgotten. Her teatime had been interrupted…her precious teatime…ruined…all because of the incompetence of two darling little men in the Black Knights…
She was going to kill them.
“As far as I know, all units are to be on standby unless stated otherwise. So far I haven’t authorized any use of combat, whether it be in Frame or out. Neither has Zero…at least, I haven’t been told otherwise.” She said, eyes lowering in thought. How did Kevin get himself so bashed up anyways? She had been too concerned about getting him medical treatment that the thought had never struck her till now. Her eyes flashed back over to Kevin. What the hell…
“What happened? I know what happened" She blinked once and lifted her head to Kevin fully. “Oy. What part of ‘shut up’ did you not under- "I was in Narita...Training...Saw someone..” An eyebrow rose. ‘Someone?’ Britannian? Tch. Most likely.
Sakura remained silent as Kevin recounted what had happened, though most of it were just fragments of a sentence. So in short, some idiot came over and picked a fight with Kevin, Kevin’s anger got the better of him and the result was him getting bloodied up and then to top it all off, he goes and crashes into a wall, nearly giving himself a concussion. Lovely. Sakura looked at the floor, biting her thumb in thought. Who was this ‘someone’ anyways? She could guess it was a Britannian, but that was just her being biased. Could be Chinese or even a fellow Japanese for all she knew! Either way, whoever did this was responsible for her missing out on tea. Whoever it was, was dead.
“I didn't even want to fight...He started it..." Sakura’s eyes snapped over to Kevin. That tone…he was loosing it. “Oy!” She waltzed over to his bed and briskly slapped him across the cheek. “Oy, Parker! Snap out of it! I thought I gave you an order! Now wake the fuck up!” she hissed, delivering consecutive sharp slaps across his cheek. She knew it wasn’t exactly the nicest way to treat someone as wounded as he was, but right now the most important thing to do was to make sure he didn’t slip into a coma. Best way to prevent a coma? Scolding and slapping. “Tch…come on, Parker…thought you had more spinal chord in you…where the hell is that doctor…swear I’m going to- “I-I’m back, Commander.” Sakura whirled her head around to see the doctor standing in the doorframe, three assistants behind him along with an IV. Her eyes narrowed slightly. “Took you long enough. Man needs blood. I’ll leave the rest to you.” she said shortly before glancing back at Kevin. “Tch.” She leaned down so that she was right by his ear. “You listen here, Parker. You better make it out of this. Or else.” With that, she stood up and nodded her head towards the doctor. “I trust you will handle everything?” “Of course, Ma’am. If you’ll excuse us…” he said as he and his assistants stepped into the room. Sakura moved to the side to let them pass, and then looked at Vierre, a crooked smile on her face.
Stepping out of the room, Sakura slumped against a wall, her head leaning against the cold plaster. Letting out a heavy sigh, Sakura pinched the bridge of her nose in attempt to ease back the headache.
“I swear this is not what I signed up for when I agreed to be Commander.”

Vierre’s twitched as well as Kevin addressed the Commander by her first name. It, of course, didn’t bother him any, but he could feel an almost literal wave of displeasure from Sakura, not to mention the dissatisfaction dripping from her short words. Then Kevin continued to speak, weakly and disjointed. Vierre strained to hear the broken story, intermixed with the occasional raspy gasp for air. His expression twisted into a wash of skepticism. He looked over at Sakura to gauge her reaction. The man was painting the floor red because he had gotten angry at someone? He suspected Kevin’s truth was warped, an ugly image of distortion. It was hard to believe that he was completely innocent in the matter after admitting that he had gotten “pissed”. He wouldn’t be surprised if Kevin had a large hand in provoking the fight, if not entirely initiating it.
Nonetheless, Vierre was careful to not pass judgment and condemn Kevin for getting carried away. Not because it wasn’t a stupid thing to do, but because Vierre knew full well that he too had made some questionable choices during his own life. Though he had never allowed himself to succumb to anger, Vierre was far from immune to being goaded into accepting a challenge. Whether or not Kevin was telling the truth, he was paying for it now. On top of the bleeding, Sakura was now vigorously slapping the man across the face to wake him up. Vierre winced as another loud crack reverberated through the tiny room.
With the the doctor now back, with assistants in tow, the slapping ceased and Sakura moved to allow the medical staff to do their job. Vierre stepped out of the room, following the Commander out.
“I swear this is not what I signed up for when I agreed to be Commander.”
Vierre raised an eyebrow, intrigued by Sakura’s comment. Crossing his arms, he reclined against the wall beside her. “And why did you agree to be Commander, Shizuka?” he asked quietly, interested to see how she would respond. He looked at her out of the corners of his eyes. There was no doubt that she had the talent and skill to support her position, and it was easy for him to understand why someone would dedicate their lives to the Black Knights. However, this young woman taking on the burden of the role of the Black Knight’s Commander-in-Chief was a wholly different and unclear matter. A cryptic smile curled at the edge of his lips. “I wonder if it is fate that chose you. Has it bound you to some inevitable path?”

Sakura closed her eyes as she leaned her head against the wall of the hospital, trying not to think about the constant twang going through her head.
twang twang twang “Ugh…” a hand flew to the bridge of her nose and squeezed. Tea…that’s what she needed…a nice, warm cup of tea…preferably oolong. Sakura sighed slightly to herself. Tea would have to wait. Until Kevin’s condition was stable, that is. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly. ‘What was he thinking, anyways? Letting his emotions get the better of him…first rule of battle is to throw away emotions…idiot…now he’s gotten himself all bashed up like we need- “And why did you agree to be Commander, Shizuka?” Sakura snapped her head up to look at Vierre. And grimaced. Ow[/b]. Not a good idea, Sakura…not a good idea at all… “I wonder if it is fate that chose you. Has it bound you to some inevitable path?” Sakura lowered her hand from her head and eyed Vierre curiously. Why did she agree to be Commander? She mentally frowned. Why had she?
Adjusting herself so that she was more comfortable, Sakura bit out a dry laugh. “Why, huh? Funny question…” she trailed off, her eyes staring off in front of her. Why had she agreed? She remembered the day Zero had appointed her…it hadn’t been anything grandiose, just a simple call to his office. There, he bluntly told her that he recognized her skills and wished to have her take position as his Second-in-Command. Needless to say, it hadn’t been the question she had been expecting to hear when she entered, but Sakura hadn’t questioned it. Rather…she simply accepted. Just like that. There had been no search for personal gain nor had it been a boost to her ego. It was just a job. A duty. Simple as that. Her father’s voice echoed in her ears: “Sakura, dear…remember this: as you rise through the ranks of the army, you are to use your position, no matter what it may be, to help the innocent to the fullest extent possible. After all, a soldier’s job is to aid those who cannot fight for themselves…never let status blind you, my child…keep your mind clear and remember what it means to wield a sword.”
A sad smile curved Sakura’s mouth. ‘That’s what you told me before I became a Knight…wasn’t it, Father?’ Quickly blinking back any tears that might have dared to make themselves present, Sakura gave Vierre a small smile. “I guess you could say it was because I saw no reason to refuse. Zero felt that I was capable to take the position, and I felt that I ought to trust his judgment. Was I initially surprised? Of course. Did I think there were others amongst us who were better suited for the job? By all means. But that was not my call to make. It was Zero’s decision, and I had to respect that. Besides…” A flicker of humor flashed across her face. “Being able to instill the fear of God into anyone is always fun.” she joked as her hand subconsciously fiddled with her locket hanging loosely from her neck. “I don’t know about Fate, DeMara, but if this is what she has planned for me…” Her face lost its humor as her gaze returned to straight out in front of her, her hand sliding the locket across the chain. “…so be it.” she whispered, pressing the locket to her lips, a faraway look in her eyes.
The sound of the door opening caused Sakura to drop her locket and turn her head to see the doctor standing there, looking somewhat tired, but not grim.
That was always a good sign.
Standing up, Sakura brushed herself off before approaching the doctor, her eyebrows furrowed slightly in worry. “How is he?” The doctor smiled gently at both Vierre and Sakura before taking a step aside so that they could see Kevin. He was all patched up and the bleeding had stopped. An IV was still attached to him, though. “He’ll be fine. Give him about 2-3 weeks recovery, and he’ll be perfectly fine. Fortunately there weren’t any broken bones. Quite remarkable, actually…you’d think with all the blood there would be at least one broken bone…but no, just a bunch of scrapes and bullet wounds. Nothing special, considering who we are.” Sakura laughed nervously. Too true, doc. Too true. “Thank you, Doctor…I trust you’ll come by later to check up on him?” “Oh, definitely. But for now, the man just needs some bed rest. Good day, then.” Sakura tilted her head as the doctor left before turning her attention back to Kevin. Sitting at the edge of him bed with her arms folded, Sakura stared at Kevin for a few seconds before sighing loudly.
“And how long do you plan on playing Sleeping Beauty, Parker? Wake up.”

Kevin had layed there for like 15 minutes after the doctor left and heard voices. Why wasn't anyone letting him sleep? He really wanted to sleep. He opened his eyes and the first thing he was was Sakura's face."Can't I sleep please!"he groaned. He really needed some sleep. After losing so much blood and being cold for such a long time. And having his body being so weak, sleep was one thing that would end the whole misery. Yes, the best thing to do for him was to sleep in his warm damp bed. It stinked with blood, however, he was planning on moving to the bed right next to him.
He got up and walked over to the next bed. He layed down and pulled the sheet over him."You can come over here"he told Sakura. He knew he shouldn't call Sakura, Sakura since she didn't like that however, he wasn't going to say it anyways."If I could sleep for 3 hours, I would be the happiest person in the world. However, a blanket, a heater, and some food would help too!"said Kevin to Sakura.

Vierre tilted his head. Most people would not have bothered actually thinking over his question. Certainly not as carefully or as seriously Sakura seemed to be. He wondered what memories were playing out within her mind, behind the blank distant stare. She seemed to be lost in thoughts, murmuring within and rippling to the surface as miniscule changes in expression. Vierre noted the sad smile, just a fraction of a second before she returned to reality, blinking and masking it with a different smile.
“Being able to instill the fear of God into anyone is always fun.”
Vierre chuckled. “You are a symbol of the Black Knights just as much as Zero, especially considering his recent absence. And as a symbol you do carry the burden of wielding an immense power. One that I do not envy.” It truly was a terrible responsibility to thrust upon someone. This young woman had her entire life before her, open to a staggering cascade of choices, including freedom from the grasp of conflict. Or as free as anyone could be from it. But that was it wasn’t it? She did choose, and this was what she chose.
“I don’t know about Fate, DeMara, but if this is what she has planned for me… so be it.” Her face grew solemn again, and once more she stared off into an unseen memory.
“Accepting a position because there is no reason to refuse speaks of so much more. It speaks of all the reasons to accept,” replied Vierre. All the reasons to make that choice. The locket, he noticed, was important to her. He might have mentioned it, but at this time there was no point. “Just remember that Fate does not ignore the soul.” Vierre uncrossed his arms and lifted himself off the wall, stopping short of any kind of explanation for his words. Whatever it meant to her would always be more important and hold more meaning.
The door opened to reveal the doctor, his medical treatments completed. Vierre did not speak, allowing Sakura to deal with the doctor and inquire about Kevin’s status. He followed the Commander in, standing behind her as she checked on the injured Black Knight. She still exhibited more compassion than he could muster despite her earlier quip about enjoying the ability to instill the fear of God into people.
"You can come over here," said Kevin to Sakura, having apparently decided to draw enough energy to get out of his bloody bed and move into a fresh one. "If I could sleep for 3 hours, I would be the happiest person in the world. However, a blanket, a heater, and some food would help too!" Not enough energy though to do much more.
“Well Shizuka, it appears Fate as decided to offer you the role of nurse as well. I wish you the absolute best of luck with that.”
Taking a moment, Vierre systematically gathered up the field medic kit, putting everything neatly back into place. “Take care, Commander,” he said as he snapped the kit shut and offered her an informal salute. “And rest well, Parker. I’ll take care of the heat.” Picking up the kit, Vierre moved towards the door and on his way out flicked the dial on the thermostat with his index finger, spinning the temperature of the room up.
“Adieu.”

“Can't I sleep please!" Sakura rolled her eyes. Obviously not. Why else would she tell him to wake up? Baka. Sure, she knew the man was wounded and in most cases this would have earned him the right to snooze for the day. But this was a special case. First off, Sakura had an inky feeling that Kevin was partially to blame for his current situation. Letting one’s emotions get the better of them was a stupid move, any solider would tell you that. Secondly, Sakura was curious about the nature of Kevin’s supposed attacker. While she knew Kevin was to blamed for his current condition, it didn’t mean he was completely at fault. Besides, being attacked meant it was most likely an enemy of some kind and was thus vital that she get any and all possible information on this person. So far, all she had gotten from Super Genius here was that his opponent had been a ‘he.’
Sakura sighed heavily, her arms folded across her chest, her eyes closed. “Buck up, Parker. This is no time to re- The sound of the rustling of fabric caused her eyes to snap open. “What the hell- “You can come over here" Sakura felt her eye twitch slightly. “Excuse me?” What was that supposed to imply? That she had permission to sit on the other cot? She stared at Kevin, an incredulous look on her face. ‘No, Sakura…the man is injured…it’s probably from the loss of blood that he’s like this…yes, that’s it…besides, could be worse. He could be some demanding- “If I could sleep for 3 hours, I would be the happiest person in the world. However, a blanket, a heater, and some food would help too!" …ungrateful little prick. The eye twitched in a more noticeable manner now and Sakura stood up and faced Kevin fully, her hand itching towards the hilt of her sword. “What…did…you…say?” She snarled, her eyes flashing a dangerous color. You had to be kidding her. Here she comes, drags the man to a medical room, sees to it that he receives medical attention and what does he do? Demands bloody food from her! As if she were his little servant! Wounded or not, there were certain things that Sakura, as a Commander, was not obligated to do. Tend to the petty needs of others was one of them. “Parker, perhaps the loss of blood has made you a wee bit delusional, but I am not- “Well Shizuka, it appears Fate as decided to offer you the role of nurse as well. I wish you the absolute best of luck with that.” Sakura whirled her head around to see Vierre packing up his things. Her eyebrow twitched. He wouldn’t. “Adieu.” He was. “O-Oy DeMar- CLICK The door shut. Still staring at the doorframe, where DeMara once stood a few seconds ago, her hand halfheartedly outstretched, Sakura opened and closed her mouth several times in an attempt to find her voice.
She eventually did.
“That…little…SHITFACE!” He was dead. The man was freaking dead. Screw the raise she had offered, this man was absolutely freaking dead. How dare he abandon her like this, as if playing sweet caretaker was her forte!
Muttering a few more words, most of them being death threats and curses aimed at a certain First Division Captain, Sakura glared back at Kevin’s resting form. Her eyebrow twitched in annoyance. “I don’t know what you expect of me, Parker, but let me tell you this: I am no bloody nurse. If you require anything, push that damn little button over there and someone who is hired to hear your pleas and demands will carry them out.” She hissed, tilting her head over to the little request-service button by Kevin’s bed. She rubbed her temples tiredly. “Well then. Seeing that you apparently need 3 hours to function after a mere rumble and tumble, I see no reason for my day off to be ruined any further. I will take my leave now. Rest now. I expect a full report on what happened ready for me when you get discharged.” She turned and headed towards the door. She needed tea. Now. “If you need anything like, oh I don’t know, a foot massage, just push that little button over there. Someone is bound to come. Eventually.” She glanced at Kevin over her shoulder, a humorless smile gracing her face.
“Sorry but, playing Nurse Joy isn’t in my job description. Ja na.”
