The pitter patter of rain hitting the outer walls echoed throughout the silent hallways of the base. Soft footsteps melded into the sounds, becoming one with them, and effectively silencing any though of another human being walking through the corridors. Only the occasional off beat of a footstep alerted anyone that there was any hint of life.
Aoi took long steps as she scouted out the corridors. Not officially on duty, the captain had a seemingly casual look to her; the only part of her uniform was her cloak, which was unusually buttoned up in the front, and her headdress, which no one had really seen her without. Although, if anyone had looked closer they’d see the slight glint of metal that came from her side, a telltale sign of the 2nd Division Captain’s favorite weapon.
The blue haired captain seemed to walk with a tense look about her as the rain came down harder and thunder clashed through the air. Wincing slightly as another clash of thunder rang through her ears Aoi gritted her teeth.
Stupid thunderstorms.
Now don’t get her wrong, Aoi was not afraid of thunderstorms. She...merely couldn’t stand the sound of them that's all, the piercing noises sounding too much like cannons and gunfire for her senses. No, no Aoi was not afraid of thunderstorms. Swirling heavily, the sound of wind picking up and rattling the base echoed in Aoi’s ears.
The bluenette winced.
Aoi was, however, scared of hurricanes…or anything with water spiraling in a circle rapidly really, as she noticeable winced as the wind got stronger. The fear had no reason for being there, and yet it was, and Aoi always found herself unable to sleep and wandering the hallways, looking for something to do or looking for a way to distract herself that did not involve drinking herself to sleep. No, she needed to keep moving, the sound of her own footsteps seemed to help keep her mind distracted from those other less...favorable thoughts.
Aoi shook her head as she turned another corner, got to keep her thoughts in line. Noticing her surrondings she found herself walking down the corridor where the Commander’s room was. Therefore she was surprised to see Anju walking away from Shizuka’s door, especially since Lockjaw the Second was by her side. Quickening her pace she caught with the Indian techie.
“Why are you awake Anju-san?” She said quietly so as not to scare the techie, something you don't want to do when Lockjaw is by her side.

Kevin by now was both panicking and annoyed. He was panicking because he did the most evil and cruel thing ever. Which was stealing from Sakura's tea collection to have some Sakura Tea. However, what made him panic more was the consequence of his actions. He could just feel Sakura's fury. If she wanted to, she could kick him out of the Black Knight's Orginization or even kill him. She was one woman not to mess with.
However, what made him annoyed was that she still thought he was lying about the noise. She though he, Kevin, just made the noise comming from the airducts just for an excuse."Lemme ex.."was all he could say when another voice penetrated his own."Someone's playing hide and seek in the south wing. Came in though the air ducts and left them like four or five minutes ago."said Anju his savior of the day.
"My point exactly. I knew I heard something"Kevin gloated as he felt accomplished and not afraid of Sakura's rage."Commander, I would like to take point."said Zane as Kevin's green eyes zapped towards him in lightning speed."What?"blurted Kevin. How dare he try to take point for something he reported."If I may say, I think I should take point, since you know, I reported it"said Kevin to Sakura who ignored him and ran into her flat.
Moments later she came back outside with a gun hanging on her wrist. Suddenly Kevin turned to his thigh to see if he had remembered his gun. However, it wasn't there but he had two other things. A gun secured in his back pocket and his BIGASS sword behind him.“Shall we go, gentlemen?”said Sakura which Kevin didn't reply but shrug as if he didn't care. Even though Zane wanted to take point, Sakura took point instead and Kevin didn't dare object.
After running down the halls of the HQ, Zakura slowed down and so did Kevin. As slow as Kevin was, Sakura turned around and mouthed ‘I’m going ahead.’, turned to peek around the corner, turned back, eyed Zane to say ‘should things fuck up, I’m counting on you.’, and ran down the hallway and shot a bullet at the intruder. Quickly Kevin side stepped Zane, pulled out his gun, peeked around the corner and turned back to wait and see the outcome.
"Wait here"whispered Kevin to Zane as he peeked once more to see what happened.

Tristan knew the place would be swarming with Black Knights. After all, he had walked into their sanctuary as an intruder. Logically, they wouldn't greet him with a smile and a plate of cookies. The bullet was a more expected form of greeting. One that wasn't as pleasant as cookies, but nowhere near as unpleasant as the redhead thought it would be.
She had her gun up to his side, making it a little hard to dodge - even with his enhanced reflexes. Not that he really needed to. It would've saved him the pain, at least...
"Ungh...sorry to disappoint you, Red..." Tristan replied, grunting in response to the brief bolt of pain that the gunshot caused, "That's not going to cut it."
He was hoping to get in and out with only a slight encounter or two. Something easily, and quietly, taken care of. This...was a bit of a situation. Still, it could be used to his purpose.
In a flash, he wrenched the gun from the red-headed rebel's hand and moved to her back, crossing his arm firmly over her chest. In his free hand, her gun had been redirected at her head. Unfair, maybe, but it wasn't his problem. In any normal scenario, he would be dead and she would be back to whatever it was she was doing before this little incident. This wasn't a normal scenario, however.
Holding her tight, his inhuman strength was key in ensuring she couldn't do much but squirm if she tried. Plus, there was that whole 'gun to the head' issue. That might convince her not to squirm.
"Listen..." the blonde Britannian offered, his blue eyes looking at the array of Black Knights that had gathered, "We can be civil and skip the violence, or I can kill every last one of you...starting with her and followed very closely by the rest of you. It wouldn't take long, and it wouldn't be much of an issue to me. However, I'd prefer to keep it simple...I just want to get what I came for and leave..."

"What? If I may say, I think I should take point, since you know, I reported it," Kevin said to Zane. It was a feeble attempt at a counter and it was grating on Zane’s nerves that this child was second-guessing him at every turn. Zane turned his annoyed gaze to the young man beside him. Even still, he would give the boy another chance. It was only fair, after all.
When the Commander returned, Zane felt his curiosity spike again. Her gun was attached to her wrist via a chain and a bracelet. It was confusing to say the least, but he supposed that it was a decent way to keep one from being disarmed in close quarters combat. "Shall we go, gentlemen?" Sakura asked. Her voice was almost the same as ever, but carried a slight undertone that betrayed the ice in her veins necessary to pull the trigger on another human being.
And like a shot from a suppressed gun, the Commander was off down the hallway. Guess that means request denied, Zane thought as he took off after her. It was a little hard to keep up with the woman, honestly. While Zane had the superior stride, Sakura had several distinct advantages: she was younger, had more stamina, and she didn’t smoke. All the same, he managed to keep at most several steps behind her.
The trio moved quickly through the halls of the headquarters and Zane felt his adrenaline starting to flow. Even if it wasn’t going to be a real battle, some action beat the hell out of sitting on their little island and waiting for Britannia to get tired of glaring at them menacingly. Zane was wondering exactly when that would be when Sakura came to a halt. He followed suit and clicked his gun’s safety off as quietly as possible.
After a moment of what Zane felt was silence, the Commander peeked around the corner. Everything Zane needed to know was made clear when she turned back to look at him and Parker. She mouthed that she was going on ahead and looked Zane in the eyes. He understood her meaning perfectly. He was her backup in case the shit hit the proverbial fan. He maintained the eye contact and gave a small nod. Whatever came next, she could count on him. Again, Sakura took off, this time around the corner and out of sight.
Zane slipped over to the wall and crouched down. In his mind, an old song, probably over 100 years old, started playing. Luck be a lady tonight… The song was abruptly interrupted by a gunshot echoing loudly down the halls. Zane was about to spring away from the wall and around the corner when Parker turned towards him and told him to wait. The boy proceeded to peek around the corner. Just like that, Zane had had enough. He reached out and grabbed the boy by his shoulder. With a vicious yank, he pulled Parker back and pushed him against the wall. His eyes were filled with fury and a message: "You don’t get to tell me what to do." After barely a second of that, Zane sprinted around the corner.
What he saw was, understandably, surprising. The intruder had taken the commander hostage and had her gun to her head. Zane raised his sidearm and took aim. His forte, however, wasn’t in precision shooting. He opted against firing for the moment. "We can be civil and skip the violence, or I can kill every last one of you...starting with her and followed very closely by the rest of you. It wouldn't take long, and it wouldn't be much of an issue to me. However, I'd prefer to keep it simple...I just want to get what I came for and leave..."
Cheating bastard. Let her go so we can settle this like soldiers, not cowards, Zane thought viciously. Of course, saying something like that was likely to earn the commander a new hole in the head. He decided to bet on diplomacy. "Release your hostage and we’ll see about it." Hopefully the man would see reason and give Zane and Kevin a chance to put him down. The chances of that happening were slim-to-none, however.

Tristan raised an eyebrow, giving the soldier a sarcastic stare.
"No..." he answered bluntly, "You wouldn't want me to do that. After all, she's the key - more or less - to maintaining a calm, verbal exchange. If I were to let her go, there wouldn't be a civil exchange of prisoners. You'd feel overconfident at my lack of leverage and try to kill me, which...I'll repeat myself here...would end very, very poorly for all of you."
The blue-eyed Britannian was getting impatient. They weren't listening at all, but it could hardly be expected for them to believe that one Britannian could take out a whole group. The reasoning behind why he was able to take them out without much trouble was even further beyond them. It still seemed unbelievable to Tristan himself, much less some random Black Knights.
Sighing, he got to the point and told them, "I'm here for Ayame li Britannia. Give me the princess and you can have your officer back. After that, I'll get out of your hair and everything will be back to normal. The war will continue, you'll have your officer to help fight it, and the princess will get to sleep in a comfy bed and get back to causing trouble for her teachers. To be honest, a military officer for a harmless kid seems like a better deal for you, logically-speaking."
Tristan lifted the red-headed girl off the ground, as if he were lifting a weightless cardboard cutout, and held her tight.
"There's no reason for anyone to die. However, I'm in somewhat of a hurry, and I don't have time to play around or wait while you dodge an answer. Just get the princess or refuse. One way or another, I'm getting her. The only difference is whether I kill every Black Knight between her and I or if I get what I want and get out without causing any further trouble for you," the blonde Britannian explained again

Anju fidgeted with the hem of her coat as Sakura narrowed her eyes, processing the warning. She blinked blearily and LJ leaped from the younger woman's head to her own, curling it's tail around her neck comfortingly. “Burnlight, you and Parker are to accompany me. Anju-san," She perked up. "I need you to maintain surveillance watch-keep us informed if you see any movement. Also, please inform the other division captains as discreetly as possible. Last thing we need is for the intruder to know that we’ve sensed him.” Anju nodded and about faced, striding toward the other end of the hall as Sakura addressed the other two men, her voice carrying to follow the Indian into the next passageway.
“I think I have an idea where who our guest is and where he may be heading.” Anju chewed her lip and sped up. A covert infiltration in the middle of the night during a storm at a secret ocean side rebel base meant several things: one, whom ever was doing this was after something in particular and was hoping to get in and/or out without being seen; two, they were highly skilled because, duh, storm; and three, the goal in question required secrecy only so far as to achieve it. 'Leaving' didn't necessarily mean 'walking out' so much as 'erase oneself from the premises.' Retreat, suicide, death by enemy, or death with enemy. Anju didn't particularly want a suicide bomber planting himself near any of the generator coils.
But. The south wing was mainly empty offices and cell blocks. The Black Knights headquarters didn't keep a full house, and even in the event they had to, the current membership was nothing compared to the numbers the original rebellion contained, hence the extra room. The only thing of importance there was the Brit princess. Someone whom, while she herself was at this point incapable of being a valuable asset to the Britannian military force, was valuable to those that were assets. The royal family was many things, including fond of inter-familial deaths, but divided was not one of them. They fought with each other constantly, but if one of their own was threatened, there was nothing they wouldn't do to defend them. The girl - Ayame - was the little sister of the Crown Princess, someone who was notorious for valuing her direct blood siblings over all others. Someone sneaking in to rescue her should have been the most predicable outcome.
“Why are you awake Anju-san?” Anju startled and stopped walking, turning her head to the right to see Aoi pacing toward her from the eastern hallway. The bluenette looked slightly frazzled and depressed, which wasn't anything new, but Anju was glad to see her anyway. Lockjaw hummed on her shoulders and chirped at the other woman, leaping to skid on the cloth of Aoi's headdress as it found purchase on her head. Sakura had told her to contact the division captains. She started waking again, jerking her head in a 'come with me' motion.
"We have a situation," she said softly. Lockjaw curling its tail around Aoi's neck and hissed. "Someone broke in and they're running around the south wing by the detainment block. We think it's a rescue for the princess." They came to a T-section and Anju turned left: the elevators were down the hall. "I'm going to see what's happening up in Security and try to walk people up as discreetly as possible. I need you to go down to the princess's cell and guard her. Take anyone you see awake with you. If you see a division captain, brief them and have them rendezvous either at the cell or with Sakura."
They arrived at the elevators and she pressed the up botton. Anju fidgeted with the edge of her lab coat, silently lamenting rushing out before putting on pants. Lockjaw cooed at her and chirped. "Take Lockjaw with you. It's hardwired into the security system: if something happens, you'll probably know before I do, okay?" She paused, before speaking to the little automaton. "Stay in alert mode. I don't need people not understanding what you're saying, understood?" The monkey whistled and crawled up Aoi's head into an obvious defensive crouch. Anju nodded approvingly as the door dinged and stepped in, waving as they slide shut.
~~~
Up on the security deck, Anju's eyes were bugging out. It wasn't a good look for her but considering she and three personnel had just watched Sakura shoot a guy in the side who then shrugged it off, it was more than a little understandable. This was- I mean- What???
She gaped as the strange man whipped Sakura around into a stronghold and pressed her own gun against her head. Oh hell no. Oh, this was bad. This was bad, bad, bad. The various other screens in the room were trained on the scene from different angles. Burnlight and Parker were crouched by a wall and Burnlight was attempting to talk the intruder into releasing the Commander. It didn't look like it was going well.
"I'm here for Ayame li Britannia," echoed the speakers. Oh good, she was right... "Give me the princess and you can have your officer back. After that, I'll get out of your hair and everything will be back to normal. The war will continue, you'll have your officer to help fight it, and the princess will get to sleep in a comfy bed and get back to causing trouble for her teachers. To be honest, a military officer for a harmless kid seems like a better deal for you, logically-speaking." Anju narrowed her eyes and growled deep in her throat. This man was holding her not-daugher hostage and he was attempting to make a joke. If Lockjaw the First wasn't in the maintenance bay recharging, she'd have the the dino rip off his-
The stanger lifted the red-head off the ground and it looked disturbingly effortless, considering the man was rather slight.
"There's no reason for anyone to die. However, I'm in somewhat of a hurry, and I don't have time to play around or wait while you dodge an answer. Just get the princess or refuse. One way or another, I'm getting her. The only difference is whether I kill every Black Knight between her and I or if I get what I want and get out without causing any further trouble for you."
Well, fuck. So much for stealth than. Anju exchanged looks with the other personnel, before she flipped a cover and slammed her hand down on a red button. Suddenly, a blaring alarm sounded throughout the base and anyone who was asleep or awake was informed through no uncertain terms to find a gun and look alive.
She rubbed her eyes. With luck, Aoi would be in the cell blocks and know exactly what was going on. LJ.2 was smarter; maybe it'd wake up LJ.1...
Tristan sighed. He really didn't want to kill anyone. Imagine the publicity and subsequent annoyances when the world gets a hold of some stories of a single man killing so many Black Knights. Aside from his little forced show of power, he generally tried to keep his abilities a secret. The torturous experiment that made him abnormal wasn't something he intended to make common knowledge.
Now...what to do? He didn't know precisely where the Princess was being held. He had the general idea, of course, but the map in his head was a little fuzzier than he would've liked, and the Black Knights likely knew where she was. He could...kill them and sort it out, or he could try to continue on with the hostage card. The alarm wasn't helping, either way.
"I guess this is going to have to get worse before either of us gets what we want. Alarms are a bad idea," he said aloud, "I'm giving you one last warning. Take me to the Princess before this turns into a bloodbath. Every one of your comrades that comes to 'help' is just another possible casualty that could've been avoided."
In all fairness, he had already been far more patient than he should've been. Anyone else would've embraced the monster they were and just broken them all like porcelain dolls, skipping the pleasantries and getting straight to the point - taking the situation into their own hands. Luckily for them, Tristan was a compassionate person, and he still had hope that he wouldn't have to kill anyone.
"No... You wouldn't want me to do that. After all, she's the key - more or less - to maintaining a calm, verbal exchange. If I were to let her go, there wouldn't be a civil exchange of prisoners. You'd feel overconfident at my lack of leverage and try to kill me, which...I'll repeat myself here...would end very, very poorly for all of you." The blond man’s words, while calm in tone, were accompanied by a raised eyebrow. Zane felt as if the man was mocking him. "I'm here for Ayame li Britannia. Give me the princess and you can have your officer back. After that, I'll get out of your hair and everything will be back to normal. The war will continue, you'll have your officer to help fight it, and the princess will get to sleep in a comfy bed and get back to causing trouble for her teachers. To be honest, a military officer for a harmless kid seems like a better deal for you, logically-speaking." The Loyalist made punctuated his words by lifting the Commander off the ground with one hand. Were he thinking more clearly, Zane might have thought it odd, but he was focused completely on the man’s loathsome face. Oh, how he wanted nothing more than to fill the man with enough lead to qualify him for the world’s largest pencil.
"There's no reason for anyone to die. However, I'm in somewhat of a hurry, and I don't have time to play around or wait while you dodge an answer. Just get the princess or refuse. One way or another, I'm getting her. The only difference is whether I kill every Black Knight between her and I or if I get what I want and get out without causing any further trouble for you."
Zane growled in the back of his throat. The cowardly Loyalist had not only taken a hostage, but had also managed to back Zane into one hell of a corner. With shame reflecting in his eyes, Zane looked at the Commander. "I’m sorry," he told her before returning his attention to the man that had taken her prisoner. "But I don’t have the authorization to release prisoners. I’ll have to speak to my superiors." He took one hand from his pistol, maintaining his aim with one hand, and reached into his coat for his radio. Before bringing it up to his mouth, however, he spoke to the intruder again. "For someone who’s supposed to be morally superior to us so-called ‘terrorists,’ you sure are a fucking coward," Zane’s voice was filled with a rare, cruel venom. "Honestly, you must have absolutely no pride – taking a young girl hostage like that. If that’s how all you Loyalists Dogs act, then I’m glad I deserted."
Without waiting for the Loyalist’s response, Zane brought up and activated the radio. "Captain, this is Zane. We have a situation in corridor S-12. An intruder has taken a hostage and is demanding the release of the prisoner. Please advise." With that finished, Zane put the radio back in its place and resumed his aim. Just as he settled back into position, the alarm went off. He barely concealed a grin as the sirens wailed. That must have been Saravati. The cavalry’s on its way, Commander. Just hold on. He could only hope that Sakura would come out of the situation unharmed.
"I guess this is going to have to get worse before either of us gets what we want. Alarms are a bad idea. I'm giving you one last warning. Take me to the Princess before this turns into a bloodbath. Every one of your comrades that comes to 'help' is just another possible casualty that could've been avoided."
"Like I said, I don’t have the clearance to do that." While that was true, Zane still had to do something. Even if that meant giving the prisoner away to save the Commander. "But I’ll take you to the detention block. As a warning, though: you hurt even one hair on her head or try anything stupid, and you’ll be getting your precious prisoner back in a little box – I’ll see to it myself. Do we have a deal?" His eyes and tone may have shown absolute intent, but in his mind, Zane was conflicted. At best, it was a hollow threat; Zane would never be able to murder an unarmed prisoner, Britannian Royalty or no.
“If Sylvie-nee-sama ever gets a whiff of this, I’ll make sure ya don’t get hanged or anything.” She gave Vierre a cheeky grin. “So no worries, okies?”
Vierre returned the grin and a hearty chuckle, putting forth his best bow of gratitude laced with an exaggerated grace for his lean frame. The rumble of thunder reverberated through the walls before the bright flash of lightning burnt the skies, lighting parts of the room with an intense light for fractions of seconds, while imprinting other deep shadows. The silhouettes of the Britannian princess and the Britannian turned Black Knight captain drew themselves on the far wall.
“Ah… and offer very much appreciated! Yes, I’m just so fond of my neck that a hanging just wouldn’t do. Rather dull way to die at that, eh? Not quite as heroic as in the heat of battle.” He grinned again, the usual charismatic glimmer in his eye. “You also seem… hmm… ‘snazzalicious’? Despite the nobility and all that. Err… not that that’s entirely unusual. I really try not to blame the royal family. Perhaps when the war is over I will be able to return home, and I will be fortunate enough to meet you again, and the rest of the royal family? ... Heh. If only, eh?”
“Ne, Male Blondie-kun? As much fun as I’m having here and all, I was wonderin’: when are y’all gonna send me back? I mean, you guys snagged me ‘cause you wanted info, right? Well, it’s been established I don’t know any more than any of yous…” She turned her head to Vierre, golden eyes wide and innocent. “When can I go home?”
Vierre shook his head. “I do not even know what information we expected of you. I am but a host who sadly cannot provide much in the way of luxurious accommodations.” He paused and considered her thoughtfully, along with a potential answer he might give to her actual question. Truthfully, he did not have one. Just a series of potential responses. He opened his mouth to speak uncertainly, but was mercifully interrupted by a tinny transmission over his radio, coming in loud enough for Ayami to hear as well.
"Captain, this is Zane. We have a situation in corridor S-12. An intruder has taken a hostage and is demanding the release of the prisoner. Please advise."
The report from his senior officer raised an eyebrow. “Seems your fate has come sooner than expected, eh Princess? A shame your great, noble saviour must threaten a hostage in the process though. I wonder… how do you feel about the spilling of Black Knight blood in the name of your freedom? It seems your friend may have no qualms about it.” Vierre looked at her, almost sadly, accompanied by the activation of the facility’s alarm system.
He blinked, and his expression melted to one of resolve. “Zane,” Vierre began to speak into his radio. “I’m here with the Princess now. Has the intruder identified him or herself? Stand by, we’re on our way.” So far, Zane had said nothing to indicate that multiple individuals had breached the base, however there was obviously more to consider if a single individual had managed to escape capture while taking a hostage.
Vierre tilted his head towards the door. “Come on then. Grab that stuffed panda of yours and your bag and let’s be off. Perhaps you can prevent someone’s needless death with a few words… whether Britannian or Black Knight. The Royal responsibility is a real bitch isn’t it?” He opened the door for her and dismissed the guards still stationed there, and then casually escorted her to the scene of the uneasy hostage situation.
((Guess I’ll try and move this along and merge the two groups))
Aoi came closer as Anju stopped at the sound of her voice. Lockjaw, which was perched on Anju’s shoulder, chirped at her and jumped off of Anju, skidding on her headdress, and found itself perched on her head. Absentmindedly she reached up to lightly pat on its head. Anju started walking again, motioning Aoi for her to follow. Putting her hand back down to her side, she followed her curiously.
"We have a situation," Anju said softly. Lockjaw hissed and curled its tail around the bluenettes neck. She flinched for a split second as the tail accidently hit her shoulder as it went to wrap around her neck. "Someone broke in and they're running around the south wing by the detainment block. We think it's a rescue for the princess." Aoi’s lips turned slightly downward as they reached a T-section, Anju turned left which if Aoi’s memory served her right led to the elevators. "I'm going to see what's happening up in Security and try to walk people up as discreetly as possible. I need you to go down to the princess's cell and guard her. Take anyone you see awake with you. If you see a division captain, brief them and have them rendezvous either at the cell or with Sakura." They arrived at the elevators and Anju pressed the top button. Aoi watched her fidget as Lockjaw cooed and chirped at her."Take Lockjaw with you. It's hardwired into the security system: if something happens, you'll probably know before I do, okay?" She paused, before speaking to the little automaton. "Stay in alert mode. I don't need people not understanding what you're saying, understood?" Aoi heard the monkey whistle and felt it nestle into a defensive crouch on top of her head. Anju stepped into the elevator as it arrived and gave them a wave as the doors shut. Aoi nodded as the door shut and headed away from the elevators.
As stealthily as Aoi could, which was better than most people, she started heading in the direction of the cell blocks. If somebody wasn’t there, and even if there was, the princess needed guards. Especially if someone could go undetected until they were inside the base. Knowing this Aoi made a very small detour. Heading left she reached a pair of steel doors with an access code panel on the side. Typing her personal code in quickly the doors opened and she entered the room. She quickly scanned the weapons locker room in search for a firearm. Though she didn’t like to use firearms this scenario did call for it, and as it was she only had her traditional knife. Grabbing a gun from the wall she quickly loaded it. Quickly securing into the strap on her hip she exited the locker room and once again headed downwards towards the cell blocks.
~~~
As the rain picked up, so did Aoi’s pace. Entering the cell blocks she quickly head over to the one where Ayame was. Suddenly she felt Lockjaw twitch, which he had started doing when she had started descending downwards to get to the cell blocks (he also started talking, and she had a bad feeling from what she heard that he was relaying what was happening from the security’s point of view, which if he was, was a very bad thing). As she turned down another hall the alarm blared. Cursing, Aoi lost the stealth and quickly ran down the hallway. If Anju had chosen to forego the stealth approach then something must have gone wrong. (A nagging feeling told her that she was right in her assumption with Lockjaw).
Turning the corner she encountered the First Division Captain escorting the princess. Stopping Aoi quickly walked towards them. “I take it that you have been contacted.” Aoi asked, although she said it as more of a statement than anything else.
"Any suggestions?" Aoi questioned as she unlatched the gun from it's holster. Lockjaw growled protectively from its perch on her head.

Pitter Patter. Pitter Patter. The rain falling steadily outside did nothing to brighten Ayame’s mood. Usually the girl was a firecracker, always bouncing from one unsuspecting victim to the next. But right now she was feeling not so epically snazzy. She wasn’t exactly emo (how frightening would that be), but she wasn’t her 110% high-on-sugar-lets-go-blow-something-up self either. If she could sum up her current feelings into one word it would be ‘meh.’ She felt meh. And Male Blondie-kun’s words didn’t exactly help either.
“I do not even know what information we expected of you. I am but a host who sadly cannot provide much in the way of luxurious accommodations.” Ayame sighed heavily. Well, she should’ve guessed as much. The guy was cool. She had a feeling that if he knew anything about her and her going home, he would have dropped a hint by now. Blowing out another sigh, legs swinging, Ayame turned her head to the barred window of her room. When was she gonna be let out? It didn’t take a super genius to figure out that she was telling the truth when she said she had no friggin’ clue about Quack-san. Why did the Black Knights even want to know ‘bout him anyways? Ayame had found it quite odd when she was first asked about a Mr. Anderson and so she had tried to do some of her own little investigation while she was camping out at BK HQ. That and she needed something to entertain herself with. So far, her researched showed that two members had a personal vendetta against him. Emo-san and the Scary Redhead-san. As for why, she had no clue. Just that those two in particular were itching to have Quack-san’s head on a platter.
Ayame scrunched her nose. Well…maybe this could be used as some sort of political leverage? After all, Sylvie-neesama also wanted Quack-san dead. So if her memory was right, the formula was….two enemies + one common target = peace love and harmony? Her eyes flickered as a light bulb went off in her head. It was obvious that if and when Ayame got back home, the Elders would love nothing more than to launch a war against the Black Knights. Holding a Princess Hostage for months on end with no apparent solid reason was more enough of an invitation to press shiny red buttons. Her eyes slid over to Vierre and lowered slightly. She liked this dude…she wouldn’t want to see him, or many others here for that matter, to be in a war because of her. She bit her lip slightly in thought. It was a little farfetched, and she was certain she would have to drug some of the Elders to get her to see her view, but it was worth a shot.
Pleased with herself for having potentially come up with a plan that could stop a war, Ayame turned her head to tell Vierre, only to hear a loud buzzing followed by the following message: "Captain, this is Zane. We have a situation in corridor S-12. An intruder has taken a hostage and is demanding the release of the prisoner. Please advise." Ayame blinked at the radio attached to Vierre, eyes wide. Situation? Intruder? Hostage? Demanding release? Didn’t take one too long to put two and two together. Someone was coming for her…and was using a member of the BKs to do it.
“Seems your fate has come sooner than expected, eh Princess? A shame your great, noble saviour must threaten a hostage in the process though. I wonder… how do you feel about the spilling of Black Knight blood in the name of your freedom? It seems your friend may have no qualms about it.” Vierre’s voice only confirmed Ayame’s fears. Her eyes narrowed and she felt anger bubble up inside her. If there was one thing she hated, beyond pink frills and corsets that were two sizes too small, it was this. Using a hostage as a means of getting what one wants. Sure, she herself was a hostage and was loving every minute of it, but in this situation ‘hostage’ simply meant that she was taken into custody. Kinda like being a forced guest. Not once way Ayame’s being a hostage used to benefit the Black Knights in any way. And to think…her own country pulling a stunt like this. Made her sick to her stomach. ‘I swear…whoever is the numbskull….’ Ayame muttered a few curses under her breath, mostly involving cupcakes and explosive diarrhea.
“Come on then. Grab that stuffed panda of yours and your bag and let’s be off. Perhaps you can prevent someone’s needless death with a few words… whether Britannian or Black Knight. The Royal responsibility is a real bitch isn’t it?” He didn’t need to tell her twice. Hopping down from the bed, bag slung around her shoulder, Pon-Pon gripped firmly in one hand, Ayame left her chambers. It took every strength of willpower to prevent herself from simply bolting off. Her body twitched with the urge to flee. But she knew she ought to let Vierre do the walking. After all, she didn’t know her way completely around this place-she only knew where she had been led. Instinct had never failed her, but now wasn’t the time to be placing bets. Plus, if a passing by guard saw her speeding off, it would be only natural that he or she would think she was trying to escape. Best try to not make this any more complicated than it already was.
Approaching a corner, Ayame felt her head hit something. Looking up as she rubbed her forehead, her eyes widened slightly when she saw who it was she bumped into. Emo-san!” Well, she should’ve figured that the bluenette would also be on alert. If Ayame remembered correctly, this chick was head of the…Second? Division. Opening her mouth to ask the girl if she had any idea who was the one trying to bail her out, a voice caught her ears.
"But I’ll take you to the detention block. As a warning, though: you hurt even one hair on her head or try anything stupid, and you’ll be getting your precious prisoner back in a little box – I’ll see to it myself. Do we have a deal?” Quickly brushing past Aoi, Ayame turned the corner to where the voice came from.
“Oy, oy~ What’s this about stuffing me in a box? I’ll have you know, I really don’t fancy enclosed spa…ces…” Ayame trailed off as her eyes fell upon her apparent savior. Pon-Pon slipped from her hand with a soft thud, but to Ayame the sound echoed loudly in her ears. Eyes wide, mouth agape, only one word escaped the Third Princess’ mouth:
“…Wounded-san?”
Wait. Wait just one bloody moment. What the hell was Wounded-san, who was supposed to be MIA, doing here?! Sure Ayame was thrilled to bits to see him in one piece, and sure she wanted to flytackle him in the biggest flytackle she could muster. But what the fridge was he doing here? Wasn’t he supposed to be missing or something? Or had something happened in the some odd months that she had been away from the Pendragon? And if something did happen, what took him so freaking long?!
So many questions ran through the young girl’s mind…none of which could be answered right now. Ayame’s eyes flashed to the apparent ‘hostage.’ It was the Commander. Fuck. Taking measured breaths so as to prevent herself from lunging at the man in pure joy, Ayame took a step forward, her gaze steady. Now wasn’t the time to be a hyperactive teenager. Now was the time to be a Royal.
How she hated having to do this.
“Captain Tristan Leodegrance! I am appalled at you. How dare you use a young woman as a means of leverage! I understand you have your orders, but let me tell you-no person would feel gratitude from someone who uses another’s life so frivolously. Now, if you would, kindly put the woman down.” She held her gaze for no more than three seconds before groaning loudly, slapping a hand to her face. “Crap that sounded weird…” she groaned out, her fingers pinching the bridge of her nose. “Swear, sounded like I was giving some sermon, eh?” she joked half-heartedly as she bent down to pick up her plushie. Standing back up straight, one hand on her hip, Ayame looked at Tristan, a tired grin on her face.
“C’mon dude…let the chick go, will ya?”

Tristan sighed inwardly. This was awkward. He had come under the guise of some anonymous agent, allowing him to do...well, pretty much whatever he wanted. He expected to have to force his way into Ayame's location and improvise some elaborate escape. Yet, here he was...here she was.
The blue-eyed young captain had to take a moment to ponder the logic of the Princess' order. He was bound to do as she asked, but if there was a chance it could lead to further risk, it was an unspoken law that he was bound to not follow her orders. In any other situation, he probably would've had to take that second option and keep his hold on the counter-hostage. Given that he could probably kill one or two of the Black Knights in a matter of seconds, the chance of further risk by letting the red-headed girl go was pretty minimal. So...he'd have to do as Ayame asked.
"As you wish, your Highness..." Tristan responded, sighing once more and bringing his hostage gently to the ground before releasing her.

Well. This was unexpected. When Sakura had fired, she had expected the man to emit a grunting sound, call her a bitch or something colorful like that, and then promptly fall to the ground, unconscious. She expected this to have been a quick clean up, something that should have lasted no more than 30 seconds.
She did not expect the man to act like he had just been given the doctor’s needle, wrench the gun from her, have her in an arm-lock, her own gun now aimed at her head. “Tch.” She clicked her tongue in annoyance. Tonight was becoming a giant shitfest, wasn’t it? If she had been able to squirm, or make any other motion for that matter, she would have. This intruder’s grip was firm. Too firm, actually. Sakura’s eyes narrowed slightly. Just who was this man anyways? She had yet to get a proper look at his face…but he wasn’t normal, that much she was certain of. She could brush off his reaction to being shot. Perhaps he had some sort of bulletproof protection on. What she couldn’t fathom was his iron grip. Sure, she knew people to be strong-she herself one of them. But this power was just ridiculous. Breathing was becoming difficult and the Commander was more than certain she was going to have a lovely bruise over her chest come morning.
As for what Zane and Kevin were doing, Sakura did not know. She had told them to wait and to only come when absolutely necessary. Sakura had been in stickier situations than this. If only she could get a little wiggle in…
But there was no need to-Zane made his way around the corner looking slightly…peeved. Her eyebrow twitched slightly as in arched in confusion. Meh. Maybe Parker had upset him. "Release your hostage and we’ll see about it." Ah, the diplomatic tactic. Smart move on his part. While Sakura was a solider by trade, she did always prefer to talk things over tea rather than bullets. Her eyes slid to the side. Here’s hoping the Intruder liked his tea.
“No.” Guess not. Well, it was worth a shot. The intruder continued to ramble off how he wouldn’t let her go and how any attempts made on his life would prove to be in vain. Sakura raised her eyebrows. Somebody was confident, eh? Sure the man had a tight grip and even if he had some underclothing protection on, fact remained he was still human. A shot to the head would finish him. But it wasn’t as if Sakura wanted the man dead or anything…no she needed him alive. Dead people weren’t good at being interrogated. Though she had a pretty good feeling what his business was.
"I'm here for Ayame li Britannia. Give me the princess and you can have your officer back.” Bingo~ So the man was here for that little spazz crack of a princess. Well, unfortunately Sakura had no intention of giving her up. Or, rather, she had no order to do so. Personally, Sakura would love to have that brat out of her hair…but Zero had yet to give word on the matter. Which, for some reason, did not surprise the Commander.
“Believe me, I want her gone as much as you d-oy!” Feeling the ground leave her feet, Sakura felt her body be hoisted up as if she weighed nothing at all. Granted she wasn’t some sumo wrestler, but still…
Sakura looked over at Zane. Poor guy. While he maintained a calm face, she was sure he was praying to every deity he could think of that she would come out of this whole scenario unscathed. Being unable to help one’s Commander in a time of peril was not exactly the best thing on a resume. Her eyebrows furrowed slightly in confusion. But where was Parker? Did he run off to get reinforcements? The sound of the alarm blaring. Well…if Kevin had fled, he didn’t need to run far. Anyone who was awake (or sleeping for that matter) would be on their way carrying more than a pocket pistol.
Now, Sakura supposed she ought to be a wee bit panicky. After all, here she was, hoisted slightly in the air, stripped of her gun (how it managed to disconnect from her bracelet was beyond her), and was being used as a barter for the third princess. In retrospect, her current situation was quite humiliating. After all, she was the Commander-idealistically the second to last to fall in battle. Yet here she was, fallen. But for some reason, the young halfer felt no panic fill her. Maybe it had to do with being sleep deprived and having had one too many cups of oolong tea, but either way Sakura felt oddly calm. It worried her.
Sakura’s eyes rolled over her captor. Now that she was somewhat eye-level with him, she supposed she ought to get a look at his face. Working from the top, she could tell the man was a blonde. Blonde, blue eyed, tall. Typical Britannian solider. “Excuse me, but I’d really appreciate it if you would put me do-
"I'm giving you one last warning. Take me to the Princess before this turns into a bloodbath. Every one of your comrades that comes to 'help' is just another possible casualty that could've been avoided."
A growl emitted from Sakura’s throat. Couldn’t let her get in one bloody sentence, could he? As much as she was flattered by her apparent lightness, Sakura was the type who preferred her feet on solid ground.
Well, if the intruder wasn’t going to put her down, she would just force him to, wouldn’t she? Normally, Sakura would have aimed where every girl with half a brain cell aims-at the prized jewels. But, given her current situation, her feet barely reached. So, she opted for a more tasteful approach. Slowly she stretched one of her arms to the back of the Blonde’s left shoulder. A little pressure is all it would take. Her hand clamped down firmly and she squeezed as hard as she could.
Nothing.
Emerald eyes widened. It hadn’t worked. In fact, the man seemed to have hardly felt anything! Her eyes narrowed. Something was off. The shot she could understand. But this? The man wore no protective covering that she could see or feel! So, in all technicality, he should be slumped to the ground right now and she should be free and putting him in a high security vault!
But no. Here he was, still standing and she still thrown over his back like a sac of potatoes. “Captain Tristan Leodegrance! Her ears twitched. Wait. Why was she out? Who gave the order to release her? Sakura would’ve turned her head over and given whoever it was that led her out the evil eye if she could. “C’mon dude…let the chick go, will ya?” “Wha- Sakura felt solid ground again. She blinked for a few seconds, unsure what to make of the situation. She just escaped death…all thanks to a Britannian Princess who was set free from her-
She whipped her head around. She had almost forgotten-who let Ayame out? Her eyes fell upon Vierre. Ah. There we go. Sighing, Sakura decided that now was not the time to rebuke. “Alright…” She began slowly, flexing her shoulder. “Alright…” She repeated. She looked at the Intruder with unblinking eyes. Logic told her to order all to fire. Instinct told her to give up. There was something about this man that was just…not natural. Something about him made her feel that if the Black Knights were to attack, it would be the stupidest order she would have given to date.
Sakura was not stupid.
Lowering Zane’s gun, Sakura took a step back. “Alright. She’s yours. Leave.” There was no doubt there would be rumors that would spring up after this-she was certain some members would loose some faith in her. But her instincts told her this was the right thing to do.
Instinct had yet to fail her.

Zane bristled at the young princess's words. She must have thought she was cute, pretending not to understand a death threat when she heard one. He pushed the feeling aside when she started laying into the intruder, however. She was even so kind as to call him by name: Tristan Leodegrance. Zane was sure to memorize everything he could about the man.
When the time came for Tristan to release the commander, Zane held his breath. Hostage exchanges were always dangerous times. He exhaled when Shizuka started walking towards him. He hoped with all his might that she would give the order to open fire; it never came. Zane briefly considered resisting her motion to lower his weapon, but decided upon relenting in the end. "Stay behind me, ma'am," he said. He made it less suggestion and more order when he stepped around her, placing himself between her and the Britannian Loyalists.
Security forces started arriving just as the commander told their guests to leave. "I'll escort them out," Zane said, not once letting his hateful stare leave Tristan. He still had one last thing he wanted to say to the man. Declaring a vendetta wasn't the sort of thing you did in front of a superior officer, however. He holstered his gun. "Are you extracting by boat or aircraft?" he asked, still glaring at Tristan.

"But I’ll take you to the detention block. As a warning, though: you hurt even one hair on her head or try anything stupid, and you’ll be getting your precious prisoner back in a little box – I’ll see to it myself. Do we have a deal?” Aoi felt the princess brush past her and run towards the voices. Sighing, Aoi quickly followed her as LJ jumped down to follow on foot.
“…Wounded-san?”
Blue eyes narrowed as they observed the intruder. Every detail, anything that could be important, she looked for it all, forcing it into her memory so that she could document it later. Something was off about him, something…strange. How he managed to get Shizuka in a hostage position, when she knew Shizuka would never be unarmed, was a disturbing thought.
“Captain Tristan Leodegrance!”
None of the rest of her words stuck as Aoi inwardly thanked the princess for giving her the name of the intruder. Her laptop would certainly be getting a work out with all this information. She needed to search the name; the princess has said Captain so he had a title, which meant that there were some records of achievements.
"As you wish, your Highness..."
Breaking her from her thoughts, Aoi turned and watched anxiously as the intruder (Captain Leodegrance her mind prodded at her) slowly let go of Shizuka. Aoi tensed, she was very familiar with hostage situations and knew that they were tedious things, especially the exchange. The exchange was the most careful process of it all, one false move and it’s all over.
“Alright. She’s yours. Leave.”
And it seemed Shizuka knew as well, as Aoi watched her lower Burnlight’s weapon. Cautiously she kept one hand on her lowered gun and one hand near her concealed knife, at the ready. If he tried anything she’d fill his body with lead. Keeping her face blank, she watched as guards entered the area.
"I'll escort them out," "Are you extracting by boat or aircraft?"
Either would be a terrible idea in this weather
