LOOKS Shinichi is, for lack of a better set of words, naturally good looking. Standing somewhat taller than most people of his ethnicity, he usually has his chocolate brown hair situated so it is gently windswept about his chiseled, rectangular face. Dark brown eyes usually hold a myriad of expressions that vary from a smoldering, laser-like gaze of calculation to a relaxed glance of relief. If one looks his way, he will almost always flash a sunny grin or a megawatt smile; on the times he doesn’t it is usually one of neutrality and the closest he gets to showing anger with them is a brooding appearance. His most distinguished features are his rather sharp-ridged nose (more evident in his profile than looking at him straight-forwardly) and the small mole situated right on his chin.
What he can wear is about as varied as his positive expressions. From a tight, thin set of shirt and pants that accent his toned body to baggy, unbuttoned long sleeves that bare said toned body; bold, solid-colored suits that make him look professional to being just plain shirtless, Shinichi isn’t afraid to put on an outfit that he thinks best fits the occasion, though feels most comfortable and will be more than oft seen wearing a simple shirt and jeans. Several tattoos brand his lightly toned skin—the most that one may see are two or three out of a total of seven—but what most people don’t know is that they (try to) conceal scars inflicted upon him during his time spent in jail.
(Face claim: Koushi Inaba)PERSONALITY Shinichi’s mild-mannered and peaceful disposition is probably not one’s first idea of a Black Knight soldier when one first hears of or meets him. He’s quite the bookworm, is intensely private about family matters, can’t drink too much, and has been known to excuse himself from activities to seek a place outside to mull over his thoughts. He always tries to make a good impression on those around him, though at times can be quite boyishly goofy for his age because of this. At face value he is a quiet and introverted man.
Upon giving him something—anything—to work on, the man’s quiet aura suddenly radiates into a passionate, uninhibited explosion of energy that can suddenly spread and overtake one if they don’t expect it. With a gift for observation and a penchant for detail, Shinichi will pursue his tasks throwing his heart and soul into it whether it is a dangerous mission or training a new soldier. The same astounding energy as well as stamina can be seen in his tactics upon the battlefield, which mostly consist of quick dips and dives into the air on his hover-bike with effortless grace. Though he is no war veteran, his white-hot intensity coupled with his looks, charisma, and intellectual appeal makes him a ideal in-command person and an excellent conversationalist.
Shinichi generally tries to be a perfectionist and an all-around overachiever in what he does. As he greatly values life, he tries to make his methods of executing his job precise and searches for the options that would take the least amount of lives. When presented with a break or vacation in-between missions he will spend the time asking for more work; however, his hard-worker attitude coupled with his good nature easily makes him a target of pranks and much bossing from others.
ADORES
- Animals. Back in his days of youth whenever he felt very tired, playing with the cats and dogs in his neighborhood would cheer him up. If he comes across a stray one, chances are he will take the time to fool around with it.
- Reading. As previously stated, Shinichi’s quite the bookworm; he’s the type of guy who will read a book and, should he find it interesting or amusing, would find more books by the same author and speedily read through them all.
- Solitude. Though he is a jolly fellow and a good person to talk to, Shinichi would prefer spending time night-riding solo on his hover-bike than mingling with friends and acquaintances in a party.
ABHORS
- Dark and enclosed spaces. Shinichi is a claustrophobic, and is quite well aware of it. In situations where he is confronted with his fear, he always tries to find a way to avoid it.
- Neglecting friends/comrades/etc. if they need assistance. As mentioned earlier, Shinichi is nothing short of a workaholic. If one even hints at needing help, he may immediately drop what he's doing to help; if they deny his assistance he will continue to pester them until they accept the offer.
- Drinking. Shinichi cannot hold his drinks very well, easily turning red after downing a pint or so. One shouldn’t worry too much if he is given one too many a drink; he tends to be more of a happy drunk than an angry one.
SKILLED
- Conversational skill. Shinichi’s silver-tongued words have a natural flow to them whether they are spoken to a good acquaintance or an adversary. He speaks with a positive energy and optimism, even when they speak of frustration and negative aspects of life.
- Raising morale. When one is around Shinichi in high spirits, it’s hard for one not feel the same way. The wave of emotions that he radiates is so contagious that one might drown in its intensity.
- Jujutsu. As with most martial art practitioners, Shinichi uses it mostly for self-defense. Most of the techniques he uses has been incorporated with his hover-bike tactics; this makes him a hard target to aim for, and though its general size is quite small compared to a knightmare frame it can still hit quite hard (one may presume this is where his nickname, Dangan—the Japanese word for bullet—derives from).
FEARS
- Dark and enclosed spaces. He’s become quite adept at arranging matters so that small, dark spaces never come into the equation.
- Unintentionally bringing harm to someone. Shinichi will actively participate in battle when called upon, but once civilians are involved he takes great care to decrease the lethality of his usually explosive methods.
- Losing someone close to him. With Shinichi’s family dead he keeps what little friends he has very close to him. If he gains knowledge that any of them have been harmed or were deliberately put in danger, the man’s usually calm down-to-earth demeanor will suddenly skew.
» MEMORIES, SUPPOSED TO FADE[/li][li] Shinichi’s other nickname – 81, pronounced hayai – is derived from his name, taking the ‘haya’ from his surname (8) and the ‘ichi’ from his first name (1). Note that the kanji making up his name do not always mean that (specifically the ‘ha’ kanji in his surname – it means leaf); he is simply using word-play on his name and other nickname, Dangan (bullet), as ‘hayai’ can also mean fast in Japanese (which is what one may presume a bullet should be).RELATIVES
Shunrou Hayasei - father, deceased
Machiko Hayasei - mother, deceased
Macha Hayasei - elder sister, deceased
HISTORY
”Today we went to harvest the taro we planted back in the spring. I was so excited! We ended up roasting and steaming them. Taro you plant yourself is really delicious!”
---
Born in small town near Tokyo, Shinichi is the second child of the Hayasei family. He was raised alongside his sister, Macha, to appreciate the results of hard, earnest work and to treat everyone equally, no matter what their heritage was. He was often seen hanging out with Macha, whom he considered not only a simple sibling but his closest friend. Usually described as ‘yasashii’—easy-going, kind—by his neighbors, the second Hayasei child was generally a very cute and lovable child, if not incredibly shy. Through Macha’s influence, as well as their parents’ influence, Shinichi eventually outgrew this shyness; despite this he will still occasionally duck his head when complimented.
---
”… I don’t know why life turned out like this! Sometimes I wonder what life is like in other places. When can I leave this small town and see all the different things outside?”
---
Shinichi greatly excelled in his academics and was growing up to be quite the talented young boy. He was also adept in sports, and actively participated in sports events held at school. Despite this he had not found his life’s calling, nor cared to search for it during his younger years; however he was very curious about the world outside his quaint hometown. Shinichi would frequent the little bookstore that would have new books coming in every week or two and hungrily take in the information to satisfy the continually growing curiosity. Though he dutifully went through his studies and got along very well during his high school years, he became tired of the small town-life; the well-mannered young man would set his sights upon universities nestled within crowded cities.
---
”They called me, ‘very repulsive,’ or, ‘too young,’ but I didn’t care too much for it; I knew that at least one of the children would end up liking me. In the end, there was a fraction of a moment where we all had some understanding about each other.”
---
The only son of the Hayasei family marked out a well-known Japanese university and scored remarkably well. By the time he was 17 Shinichi set off to learn what he could from the institution and entered into various programs which included science, engineering, and language. While vigorously studying he also tutored at an elementary school; however, because he was quite young much of the adult faculty would not allow him to help, thinking him to be teaching the wrong things or simply being immature. Despite this, many of the children went to him in secret and he was more than happy to help them when they did so. Four years later he taught at a middle school and received the same treatment; however, the situation escalated to the point where he was framed for battery and assault upon a student for misbehaving and was fired for it.
---
”… At that point I stopped wondering what life would have been like had I not continued to question the outside world… Well, for one, I certainly wouldn’t be here if that was the case!”
---
The crimes in which he was framed for saw Shinichi’s temporary confinement in jail. The sentence he had to fulfill was relatively light (a little bit over a year), but just the same it greatly affected him. For one, it is here where his claustrophobia formed and grew; his cell was incredibly small and, to boot, was room-mates with rather mad criminal who would constantly bully him. Additionally, he enjoyed the school job enough to endure through that distrust and ill-treatment, and to have been forced out of it by false accusations greatly disturbed and angered him. Having not experienced such powerful emotions before, Shinichi sought to control them once he was out of prison, and found the solution by enrolling himself into a traditional jujutsu dojo.
---
”I thought that once I made peace with myself, things would go back to the way they were, that I could at last see everyone I love again, after so long… but life had a different path in store for me.”
---
Shinichi’s immersion in the martial arts lasted nearly a decade. By the time he left the dojo, he’d dealt pleasantly well with his emotions and gained a little bit more muscle (though definitely relied more on precision than brawns). After being secluded for so long the man figured he would visit his hometown and see how everyone was doing; unbeknownst to him, Britannian troops invaded his country during his seclusion and razed many towns and their inhabitants—including his own, merely several nights before his return. To see his town in shambles and the people he knew drenched in blood, left to rot with the maggots… it filled him with great anguish, and thoughts that led him to wishing he hadn’t come back had he knowledge that this was going to happen. In order to make sure that no others could further degrade the place of his memories, the only surviving member of the Hayasei family could do nothing but burn what still stood of the area and scattered the ashes to the winds.
---
”… and I remembered that, when I was a child, I had written to myself, ”Don’t be discouraged by setbacks.” … I think I followed that quite well, don’t you think?”
---
Since then, Shinichi has mostly been left wandering in search of the latest information that would lead to resistances against the Britannians and their totalitarian troops. He was bitter of their persecution against people of his ethnicity, but he did this not to seek revenge for what they did; rather, he saw it as an opportunity to aid those who needed it, whether it was to seek safe paths of escape or to join in the offense attack within reason. While doing this, he never stopped hearing of the Black Knights of whom he read of back in his days of youth—the defenders of the oppressed Japanese, the followers of the masked man named Zero… while he never directly sought them, he wished to join them; while some of their tactics involved methods he didn’t entirely agree with, they were much more organized than these Japanese resistance groups he frequented. Year after year of bad luck, his wishes were finally fulfilled; while seeking refuge with another resistance group the Black Knights appeared to them, seeking possible recruits. Shinichi readily enlisted himself into their ranks without another thought and easily left them a favorable impression.
NOTES
[/li][li] Shinichi owns (at least, it would help if he owned) a hover-bike—basically, a flying motorcycle sans wheels. The intent is to use it on the battlefield, as the space of a knightmare cockpit is enough to trigger his claustrophobic tendencies. Will probably have to discuss this with Anju to make it. *crosses fingers for a RP on it*

Fingers with unpracticed deftness hit key upon key, creating words; perhaps entire theories. Kansai detective Hattori Heiji wasn't a computer whiz, but had at least some adequate skills that could aid him upon this particular case he'd stumbled onto. The victims weren't dead, but they were damn close to following that light at the end of the tunnel. They'd all been propped at their work tables, sitting in front of the computer and doing whatever it was they were doing--essays, games, porn... They had also inserted a CD from an unknown sender, and, put short, the source couldn't be traced, either...
The dark-skinned Osakan now had said CD input into his laptop and really found nothing strange of the sort. Empty folders untitled, several .doc files... Nope, nothing strange at all. Computers were odd, fickle things, however; attacking everyone from computer whizzes to grandmothers just using their son’s Macbook… It wasn't discriminating; whoever had the CD was on the hit list, apparently. Of course not—Hattori Heiji would notice nothing wrong inside of the disc - hidden files abound, an application would launch, opening a small window on his screen without his requesting it. It displayed a green loading bar.
"Welcome to the Sinairy access protocol. Please enter password in the box provided." A stationary female voice, but no image - as she spoke a box did indeed appear with a blinking cursor. "Twelve seconds until protocol collapse."
A startled squawk escaped the detective as the window popped up—he hadn't expected that. He should have as a detective. With inquisitive aquamarine eyes he watched the loading bar fill, promptly followed by a dull female voice asking him for a password and... What was that about protocol collapse? Heiji had no clue what that was and what it would do but he had the feeling he didn't want to be the one to find out. Still, how the hell was he going to figure out the password? Six seconds left.
"Dammit, this is why I don' like these..." growled the Kansai teen as he furiously typed up "Sinairy Enterprises" - yes he was making this up - and hit ENTAA, then crossed his fingers. Not even half-way to solving the case and he'd already screwed up...
"Incorrect - the system has detected an unauthorized body access point." The voice jarred as the window closed before opening a new one, this time with an ... odd, at best, life form on it - a robot of sorts, the most notable aspects being its glowing green eyes and shimmering blue hair. It looked like something from one of those Saturday morning Anime that kids would watch. This was the culprit of the crimes? "So who're you." It asked quite matter-of-factly, cracking an eerie smile.
“Who wants ta know?” he inquired with a frown. Virtual or not, the thing creeped him a bit—ok, well maybe just a tad more than a little.
The thing leaned back, raising two arms to cross them; if it had brows they'd be lifted. "Well that's awfully rude of you." It muttered, its voice female despite the obvious... androgyny. "I guess it doesn't matter though." It let out a ghastly little giggle - the keys on the laptop would shiver as a current began to run through them. "I just usually like to know. Better for file naming."
Scratch that—Heiji was thoroughly creeped out by it…
